Re: Hard drive problems

Sounds like you have a bad save on your HD you need to go into your HD while in dashboard and delete everything that is on it. This should work in stopping your games from freezing.

If it doesnt then you will need to purchase a new HD as your HD has gone bad. This is rare but does happen.

Game freezes up on 360xbox

If your game is freezing, it is most likely due to your game being scratched or otherwise damaged. Sometimes, a game can become damaged without you even realizing it. There are two ways to fix this.

1) (Obviously) Buy a new game.

If you don't want to go through the hassle, and would rather just get a fresh copy, go do it. Also, if your hard drive is relatively small or nearly full, I would recommend this.

2) Install the game to your hard drive.
The Xbox 360 has a feature that allows you to install a game to your hard drive. By doing this, the Xbox will run everything from your hard drive, which will make a scratched game no problem. You still need to have the game in the Xbox for it to start, however (anti-piracy measure). Installing is easy. Go to the dashboard, and scroll to where you would normally start the game from. But instead of pressing A to play the game, press Y on it and you should have the option to install it.

Note 1: If you can't install the game fully because it is so badly damaged, borrowing a friends or renting a copy and installing that one will work fine also. As long as you can start the game, you will be fine and freeze-ups will go away.

Note 2: If you have installed the game and it's still freezing, the problem is your hard drive. Some hard drives don't play well with some games, for an odd reason. To test this, try saving and loading the game from a USB flash drive. If it doesn't freeze, just continue to play on the flash drive. You can transfer all of data for the game onto your flash drive from the memory options in system settings.

Lockup problem. dvd, netflix can play all day but as soon as i play a game it freezes. end of my rope.

Before you set to fix the PS3 game
freeze, make sure that your console fan is blowing enough air to the inside to
keep it cool. If there's heating, then the fan is unable to blow air and the
problem is due to heating of console.
Deleting unnecessary files like the demos you no longer need on the hard drive
solves the issue. For games to play smooth without freezing, you hard drive is
supposed to have minimum 5% free space. The more free space on the hard drive,
the rare will be the chances of freezing. Besides hard drive, heat transfer

compound dries with time and becomes the cause of this particular problem.
Replace the old dried up heat sinks with the new ones, there are fair chances
that your PS3 will start working fine.
PlayStation 3 repair guide is very helpful resource material if you are doing
fix with the console. Read the Do and Don't rules before doing any thing with
your console otherwise you could end up making it dead. For example, if you are
to clean the fan of the console, then you must follow the exact directions given
in the guide. Don't presume that your console can not be repair at home and is
always supposed to be taken to Sony center. You can do it your self as there's
plenty of information available on the internet about fixing PS3 game freeze.

My xobx freezes in the startup screen when the hard drive is in place, if the hard drive is not in place the xbox starts normally. what is the problem?

There is probably something wrong with your hard drive or connection, as far as I know, the hard drive itself is not serviceable, (though I would love to be proven wrong if I am). If you can, try to get your hands on another hard drive, maybe borrow one from a friend, and try it on your console. If it works then your hard drive is toast, if not then you have a problem with the connection to you console. I don't have a repair proceder for the console connection problem as I have not yet experianced that particular issue and was unable to find someone who has, try calling if a replacement hard drive does not work.

Good luck.

Save/load problem on ps3

You can try to reformat the entire hard drive, or you can buy a new hard drive.

To reformat the drive, in the PS3 menu:

NOTE: This will erase everything you saved on the hard drive.

1) Go to the Settings menu, then select System Settings.
2) Select Format Utility, then select Format Hard Disk.
3) Select Quick Format

To replace the Hard Drive, buy any 2.5 inch notebook hard drive that has a serial ATA connection. Then remove the old hard drive from the left side of the PS3 and install the new hard drive.

Xbox360 fallout 3 freezes when I try to leave sub basement.. water purity quest

Fallout 3 has an issue with loading data from the hard drive(as does several other games). It causes the game to freeze more often than most games. Playing the game from the disk, rather than the hard drive should fix the problem. Feel free to continue to play it from the hard drive once the issue has cleared up.

My xbox loads games but then it freezes on games that run on a disc

Hi, im not sure but are you playing the games of the xbox 360 Hard Drive?

If orignal discs seem to freeze in the drive then this could be a problem with the disc drive. You may want to get it replaced or if under warrenty get it replaced...

if the problem happens with games that run from your hard drive as well this could be a hardware problem.

Game freezes after playing for a while but no red rings appear

Games freeze for two reasons. Overheating and the hard drive locking up. If you have your games installed, you most likely eliminated the overheating problem.

Since you are not getting Red Ring, it probably isn't overheating. That leaves the hard drive. Turn of the console and unplug it. Remove the hard drive. Now is a good time to clean any dust from the connectors or vents. Reattach and play. Some games like Fable 2, Fallout 3, and others are more prone to freezing when accessing the hard drive that others. If it is freezing more times than not, you have an issue with the hard drive.

E79: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it. If it works with the hard drive removed then you may have a faulty hard drive m8. To test your machine before you buy another one, borrow a mates hard drive and test it in your machine, if you get the error code again then something in your machine is faulty. If it loads ok with a different hard drive then yours is definately the problem.
