Canot view my web cam in yahoo.

  1. 1 Open Yahoo! Messenger and then click "Messenger," "Preferences" and then select "Webcam." Choose the option "When I show my webcam, change my status message to," and then enter whatever you want your status message to be in the text field. Then click "OK" to finish changing your status settings.
  2. 2 Choose "Webcam" from your Yahoo! Messenger "Preferences" menu and then click one of the following options, "Always ask my Permission," "Allow everyone to view my webcam," or "Always allow the following people to view my webcam." If you choose the latter you can select, from your friend's list, the people who you always want to allow to view your webcam. From there you can also select "Ignore other view requests," if you don't want to allow anyone else to view your webcam. You also have the option to either choose or not choose to select "If I am in a chat room, allow people in the chat room to view my webcam," by clicking the box. If you want to remove anyone who is viewing your webcam, you can select, "Who's watching me?" to remove their name from your viewers list.

My web cam is ok until someone is viewing and then it freezes up. Actually until I got verizon fios the web cam freezes up every 3 to 4 mins. Can you help? Thank you so much! Trisha

graphics card issue, memory issue or low processor speed. If the PC is new and you dont have other applications running, then you are in need of more memory. The web cam will run at what the PC will allow it to.

My web cam was working online perfectly but since today i don't know why but it doesn't work online anymore and on my lifecam program it works fine.

To test if it works online go to this free webcam test site. Allow access to the webcam when prompted, and you should be able to see yourself. If not click the drop down box under the Live Camera window to manually select your webcam. Once you prove your webcam works over the Internet go to the service you normally use online (Skype, MSN, Yahoo, etc.). I fit doesn't automatically view try going under the Settings options to see if you need to manually select it.

My webcam not working on yahoo and skype, its working fine

Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.

Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to Yahoo Messenger.
Use Internet Explorer to visit this page to check compatibility and automatically download the latest webcam control

Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the Yahoo software may have difficulty in locating it. Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in, if yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.
Of all the chat programs, Yahoo is the most painful software to set up but if you follow these instructions you should be ok.

Webcam connected
Open messenger - on top toolbar. Left click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Connection - Select 'no proxies' or 'connect direct to the internet' depending on the version of messenger you have
make sure your internet connection and country are correct in the lower two boxes > Apply > OK

> Messenger > My webcam - the warning panel will launch, click 'OK' and your webcam will start. You should be rewarded at this stage with your happy smiling face.

With webcam still running > Messenger > Preferences > Webcam > Camera Source - set your webcam as default using dropbox. > Camera Settings - adjust settings to suit. > Apply > OK
Take a note of any additional software, if you have multiple choice for Camera Source, you may wish to uninstall any redundant webcam software later to prevent conflicts

> Messenger > Preferences > Webcam - make your selections ( who you will allow to view you) > Apply > OK

When you are both on line and wish to show your webcam > Actions > 'Invite to view my webcam'.
Messenger 10:- > Actions > More Actions > invite to view my webcam. This will launch an invitation on your contacts screen when they 'Accept' your webcam broadcast will start- There can be considerable time lag ( +1 minute) before they see you, so don't be too impatient ( You can check the status on the bottom left of your webcam panel. You can 'drag and drop' the frame to a convenient location by grabbing the top border.

Your contacts may need to configure their connection the same as INTERNET CONNECTION above (Ignoring webcam connected) if they get a "webcam not connected" message

If you will know what is the brand of your cam you need to visit their official site. Search the model of your cam, once you are already search the model you can download the driver now. Make sure that the driver you've download are the same model of your cam. If it is hard for you to find, try to use this site. just search the brand name.

Hope it will help you,

Lifecam video works great - but no audio!

do a cam/mic test in the audio/video settings in the tools tab in yahoo/msn. Then you need to minimise the yahoo/msn screen and right click on the cam icon in the taskbar and check that the mic and cam are enabled and that it is set to allow other programes to take control of this device
