HI, My notebook monitor is suddenly displaying a straight line from one end to other end. the line is just below the center of the screen. everything is working fine except the line. Is this some issue related to the power supply to the adapter ? Also what can be done to fix this. The laptop is new and hardly used. I do not have any other monitor to test this. Thanks.

I run on Windows XP, pack3 and I use a CRT ViewSonic EF70 ... 17 inches The screen is not filled completely with the image from Microsoft Internet Explorer, nor with Outlook Express .... there is about 3...

two things you can do, first right click on your windows screen and look for "settings" this will open a dialog box where you can set the screen resolution. Set it lower and see if your screen is now filled. if that doesn't work go into the monitor setup (buttons on the bottom or side of the monitor) and try to set the verticle and horizontal size, since its only 3/4 of an inch you should be able to stretch the screen to fill up the space.

3 inches of black on both sides of my monitor

I have seen this when using HDMI cables from the computer side.. The TV has a resolution that is not always full screen with TV shows. There is a setting that allows you to "zoom". My TV has 4 settings: normal, stretch and crop, stretch left and right, stretch and pinch (shrug).

Giant blobs of ink on every photo...

If you aren't currently, use the cartridge that the printer's manual says is for photos. Photo paper requires a different kind of ink.

Ink blobs on paper

It could be both. Leaky ink can be a problem and that probly is the problem. But, make sure your rollers are clean and cheak that your ink is not leaking. I hope this has helped you.

My screen is stretched with a 1 and ahalf inch black space on the top and bottom

Most LCD monitors have a couple of control buttons at the top or on the side. Inside the menu, there should be an option called "Auto Adjust" which senses the input signal and resolution, and then shifts the monitor to match it. Have you tried to auto-adjust the screen? There may even be a button called "Auto" on the monitor.

How to open a ACER AL1713 monitor

Hi - there are more hidden screws so you need to undo those:
  1. Where the stand joins on the back, there are two plastic bits either side of the pivot. They don't look as if they come off but if you squeeze them (squeeze top and bottom) then they unclip.
  2. Remove the 4 metal screws you have just revealed (2 each side)
  3. Remove the 4 larger metal screws holding the stand to the monitor
  4. Remove 1 metal screw that you have just revealed which was hidden by the metal plate on the stand holder.
  5. Use a straight-bladed screwdriver to create a gap at the bottom of the monitor between the silver front / black back of the case.
  6. Open this up all around, and remove the silver front - undo the multi-cable connector which connects to the operating buttons and put the silver part to one side
  7. Lever out the monitor chassis.
  8. Put the LCD face down on a table but make sure there is nothing underneath it (I have two black blobs where mine sat on a bump in the table!)
  9. Then open up the cage with the electronics in it, by undoing 2 screws and sliding the cage off.
  10. Remove the four screws holding on the power board (the big one with a mains connector, disconnect any connectors, and then remove the board.
If your monitor is not working (even if the power light is dead), check for swollen electrolytic capacitors (tall things with an x at the top, made of metal with plastic around them). If you have swollen ones, that's probably why the monitor doesn't work. Replace them (make sure the + and - sides are in the correct places when you replace) and hopefully your monitor should work.

If it still doesn't work, look for any heat damage and poor soldering.

if u look at the back of the unit there is a back door which u can take out .
or u can open the front access door [ from where u insert the cartridge ] , in case u r not able to clean it from there .
