The door wont open on my xbox 360 how can i fix this without having to pay money for an eguide. To me that is just crazy. I know how to get the machine apart. I am just stuck as to how the door will open when the top part of the metal casing is off but when i reassemble the casing to the loading panel the door wont open.

These chips do run hot and the xbox knows it so its running the fans super hot. That is the reason the older consoles are so much louder than the newer xbox 360s.

Just make sure you keep the 360 in a well ventalited place. I know entertainment centers with doors that close are a no no unless the door is open.

if you still have the receipt, you may be able to send it in and get it replaced/fixed.

my sons xbox had the same problem. i took it to a repair shop, and they told me it was a problem that microsoft was aware of. when my son contacted microsoft he was told that since the xbox had been opened, he had voided any warranty. his roomate then contacted microsoft, and was told that they would fix the xbox for ninety nine dollars. he ended up sending the xbox to microsoft without any money, and they sent him a refurbished one that has not had any problems so far. i was told by the repair shop that the problem is caused by the laser. microsoft is well aware that the problem is their fault. my advice is to send it to them. tell them what the problem is. don't tell them that you opened it, even though they will be able to tell. don't send money, they should fix their mistakes. create a big fuss about it if you have to. people tend to fix things to get rid of pain in the **** people.

If your warnty is out there is no way to fix it unless you pay for repairs or order parts and open up your xbox to fix it.

From my experience you only have to pay to get it repaired if you're out of the warranty. However, I don't believe you should have to pay regardless if the problem you get on your xbox360 is a problem caused by Microsoft's design. IE.. The overheating issue.

But, if your laser goes bad, DVD drive door isn't opening and things of that nature, it's not out of the question since alot of those problems could be caused by something the owner of the xbox has done.

Your console is experiencing a 'general hardware failure' So are you asking for a way to fix it without having to pay 140? You could try the X-Clamp replacement fix but this would mean opening your console and voiding you warranty. Visit xbox-scene.com, they have many tutorials on the subject. push it in until it closes .i know it sounds crazy but it worked for my ps2. i dont know about xbox though.
