Hello JJ.

Well, this could be a variety of situations. Your system is initially reading a disk without valid system files.

First, check your floppy drive (if you have one) to see if a diskette is in the drive, a CD in your CD-ROM or flash drive attached. Remove it and press Enter. If necessary, restart.

If not the floppy drive, etc. and your system is booting to the hard disk, the hard disk or operating system (Windows XP, etc.) could be a problem. Please let us know if you have Windows XP or other operating system, if not resolved by removing the diskette, CD or flash drive.

Hope this helps.

You probably are using Windows XP. With this error, you must re install your Windows XP operating system with your XP CD.

Toshiba portege 2000 windows xp invalid system disk.

When booting, try going to the Boot Menu by pressing F12 when you see the Toshiba logo so you can select your hard drive as your boot device. After doing so, if you still get an "Invalid System Disc" error, then your hard drive may be shot.

When I turn on the computer, I get a message that says "invalid system disk - replace the disk, and then press any key"

I have had this error before. Check your floppy and CD/DVD drives to see if there is a disk in them. If so remove and restart with your drives empty. This has helped me in the past.

Invalid system disk--dell latitude 6600

A few possibilties on this:
1. Check to make sure both the floppy and CD drive do not have any media in it.
2. This is a used computer and its hard drive was erased to protect old info from being seen. If this is true, you will need to get an operating cd disk (ie. windows XP, windows vista, etc) and boot up from that drive. Follow the instructions from there.
3. Hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced.
