I replaced my black cartridge recently and

I replaced my black cartridge recently and afterwards I got an error message saying the "color" cartridge was incorrect. This is the same cartridge I had been using all along. I tried replacing it and kept getting an error message. I tried unplugging and holding down the on button but still got the same message. So, now, nothing works because of this message. I've tried cleaning the contacts but nothing. Help.
