I have a Sony 40L4000 tv with a good picture and no sound.TV speakers are turned on is there anything else I should try, Thanks, Ian

Does say a dvd player give sound when connected to the same input? If you have determined that the source is good and the speakers are turned on in the menu then I would replace the main board.

check your speaker, use a battery 1.5vdc tap it to speaker wire if the speaker is ok you can hear a click sound as the wire touches the battery + & - .

Make sure that all scarts and sockets are plugged in tightly. Try different inputs, try connecting a DVD player or another piece of equipment to the sockets in turn. Also, if you`ve got a sky box, remove the scart plugs one at a time and reconnect it immediately so that you know where you took it from. Check if there`s a switch on the back for external speakers, Make sure it`s switched to internal. Some of the TV`s have the switch for internal and external speakers in the menu`s. Make sure that any switches whether mechanical or electronic are switched to internal. Ian

If it is Sony KDF-50E3000 TV then its symptoms of weak Lamp that requires replacement.
You can purchase required XL-2500 Lamp from Sony Accessories Store.
Always buy Sony Original Lamp for your TV and avoid aftermarket / cheap lamp.

It is likely that you do not have an HDMI cable connecting your cable/satelite set top box to the reciever. If you you run coxial striaght to your TV you will need a digital tuner and run the audio componet cable to the receiver and picture cable to the TV. Also be sure that TV out is perferably with optical audio. Hope this helps. If not its all listed simply in the owners manual. Try Sony's website if you lost it.

i think you need to get an Optical Digital Audio Cable and connect it to the tv and speakers then it should work

Sounds like something got confused in the re-wiring...if the TV signal from cable doesn't involve a box, then the co-ax should go straight to the "cable in" or "RF in" on the TV, and the sound equipment gets connected to output ports on the TV. Otherwise, try bypassing the video connections on receiver or whatever and go directly to TV...My surround sound has video in and out, but I've never used them, it doesn't matter.

Try connecting the red and white audio cords to your system from your cable box/satellite receiver instead of your tv. Worked for me.

I have a KV-27V55 and when I turn the TV on the picture and sound is good for about 30 minutes and then the picture goes off, but the sound is still on. It will come back on after a while.  What do I do?
