I have a toshiba 50hdx82 and the top and bottom of the screen is like an hour glass. Is this a convergence IC part issue or can it be fixed in the service menu?

I will attempt to fix it. If you could send some instructions, that would be greatly helpful.
This is a convergence problem. If you wish to attempt the repair and are comfortable working inside the set, please update this and I will supply additional details and instructions.

hi! the remote was not working so i bought an universal one. then i've realized the problem is the tv, not the remote because the universal remote works fine w/ the dvd and cable, but not w/ the tv. Could you help me please?

when i turn on my tv it starts with a very distorted and jumpy picture that moves left to right spuratically as well as tight jagged lines that expand and contract in a flicker type motion. after 20 mins these vertical jagged lines from top to bottom adjust to a constant but suttle rippling action top quarter of the screen. not bad but noticable. What do you think it is?
