The car is in LIMP MODE to enable you to drive it to a SAFE place to park it while you call for a service tech.

If you live near an autozone , you may wish to take it there to get a free scan of the engine controle module.

po733- gear 3 ratio incorrect, po734- gear 4 ratio incorrect. this is how to fix. You can try replacing the shift solenoids inside the transmission as long as the trans fluid is nice and clean looking. Service manual says for six cylinder 3.7, the number is located on the right side of the block near the front. I have been looking myself but havn't found it yet. I havn't found any pic or diagram to show it either. Please have a look and post if you find it.

Have the cars on board diagnostic system read. An autoparts store like Autozone will plug in and read the codes for free sometimes if you are at their store. Or just visit a trusted local garage and ask for a read. It only takes a few minutes to read the computer with a industry standard OBD2 code reader. I bought one on ebay for 35 bucks for myself.

If you have codes but no continuous "Check Engine" light showing on the dashboard you may have missfires related to certain controls/sensors slowly going bad on your engine. Or you could have something outright mechanically wrong with the car like a vacuum leak or a clogged EGR valve.

Also, is this coughing causing other driveability or fuel ecomony or power issues? That can also be indicative of what kind of problem you are looking at.

If this problem persists but is minor....eventually the computer will send you the check engine warning. Sometimes it takes 1000's and 1000's of missfires to get a check engine warning! That's because of tolerances built into the software the cars computer is using.

You need to have the codes read to determine what is wrong. Bring it to a parts store, this is a free service. They will plug a hand held scan tool into the cars diagnostic port (under the dash), and 'read' codes stored on the cars computer. They can tell you what the code(s) mean, and suggest how to fix the problem. If you have any questions after that, post the codes and questions (and engine size) here.

hello , this engine fan problem could be for many reasons , what you should check on is the thermostat , and the fan fuse is ok , and to be sure that the fan motor works and that by connecting it directly to the battery , and just a small advice don't do this yourself , and thank you for using fixya
