Can not upload my pictures

I suddenly can not upload my pictures to my computer from my Nikon D5000? The computer doesn't even recognized the camera... I tried two different computers.

What uploading method are you using? Is it a sync lead to the camera and Nikon's own software or are you removing the memory card and inserting it into a memory card reader? Which computer operating system are you using? Please reply with details and I can then suggest relevant solutions instead of making guesses.
