NetGear WGT624 Antenna

I notice within your page that th antenna is described as detachable. I would lke to extend the range so that I can have coverage in my garden, by using a replacement rubber duck. How do I remove the supplied antenna? Your help would be appreciated. Ian.

Re: NetGear WGT624 Antenna

The antenna does not simply detach...

I'm about to try this solution.

Messy, but worth a try.
I'll get the bits off ebay and let you know how it goes.

You are losing the signal? If you move about the area reception will differ. I'm not sure what your question is? May things will cause a signal loss. The device location, device antenna, interference, Wireless Channel, etc. Is the wireless secured? Change NetGear Channels.

You can reset your Netgear router/wireless WGT624 router to the factory settings from within the router manager. The reset procedure removes all user-configured settings and returns the router to the original factory settings.

For this reason, only reset the router if you encounter problems that can't be solved with other methods.

Step 1: Check that your Netgear router/wireless WGT624 router is properly connected with your system or not. If it is OK, then press reset button on Netgear router for at least 10 seconds. The 'test' light should flash during this process.

Step 2: Now open browser and enter Netgear's IP address into the address bar. Generally, '' is the Netgear router IP address but you can find specific IP address in Netgear router manual.

Step 3: Now enter your default username and password to log in to router.

Step 4: Click 'Erase' button under the 'Revert to Factory Default Settings'. This process will erase all your previous changes that have been made to the router and restore the configuration settings to factory setting. Don't interrupt the process until the process is finished.

Once the router's 'test' light has stopped blinking and the configuration page you are on has refreshed, the router has been reset.

I am installing a new printer and it is asking me for the wgp passphrase....will it be wgps606? I have a netgear super G wireless Router WGT624

The network passphrase/encryption key is in the Netgear wireless settings.
These settings eg. SSID and encryption key is used to configure the wireless card in the printer or computer so it can connect to the wireless router.

I have no installation manual for the wgt624

You can download a manual from the Netgear website.

You'll need the full model and version number of your router. If you're not sure of this, take a look at the base of the router, where there should be a label with this information (for example, WGT624v4, or WGT624v2.)

Then visit this page and click the link to the Support Page for your model number:

Links to the downloadable installation guides/manuals are usually on the left-hand side. Good luck.

Some wire less routers allow for a replacement or upgraded antenna (I know most Linksys routers do) which you can get at an electronics store.

Check on or look in the manual to see if your router is capable of that.
