A while a go my Dell Dimension 3000 died, i decided to bring it back to life but i am struggling. when i turn it on the mother board and fans come on but the peripherals dont work. when i unplugged the flat grey information cables to the peripherals they work but turn off as soon as i plug the cables back in. What could be causing this and are there any solutions?

The golden rule is add 1 peripheral at a time and make sure that the cables are correct and plugged in the right way round. If you would like to pursue this via email so you can send some pitures I can assist.
