Sony Bravia with a DirecTV goes black when I change channels

I have been using my Sony Bravia with a DirecTV DVR box for almost 3 years with no problems but two weeks ago after I change channels the TV screen goes black but the sound stays. I have to turn the TV on and off and then its OK. It seems like the problem often happens when I go from one channel with 1080i resolution to a lower resolution or visa versa.
