Having trouble with volume on tv. Can turn it up to 60 (full power) and still difficult to hear.

  • olearyllc May 19, 2008

Same problem, with the matching Aquos Blu-Ray and 52" LCD. Guy at Sharp says it's "the way the technology is". Volume is inaudible at less than 4' away!!! Sharp guy and suggests using coax to connect my components instead of HDMI because it dosent make "that much difference" in quality. What a hassle to lug this 100lb TV back to the store and set it up for them to prove I'm not crazy. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same problem with the sound. The volume quality does change with different chanels, but at best you need to turn it up three quarters of the way.

I have the same problem with the volume on my Sharp Aquos 37" flat screen. From 0-30 the volume increases normally. From 30-60 there's hardly any difference. Unfortunately, 30 is not loud enough, and we end up pushing it to 60 and can still barely hear it. This doesn't happen with all channels, and is more noticable in the evenings! While I realize that that the sound quality is also a function of the program we're watching, this volume problem is way beyond that. I have no problem with volume on other televisions, either my other one or ones at other people's homes. What's going on????

I have the same problem of low volume after it froze and i reset the power. Now Volume is very low afterthe reset. Some kind of mulfunction.

Sharp should look into it and recall if possible.

add another person to the list i have the same problem with dvd and blueray (not loud enough) but i don't think its a hardware problem because i have a ps3 hooked up to it and when there's a game in it's really loud.

  • mwright90 Jan 06, 2009

I bought a Sharp Aquos 37" LCD in July, 2008, and have problems with the sound continuously, even when turning it up to the max (60), it makes no difference. I just watched a movie on my dvd player, and could barely hear it, the sound was so muffled. Is there a solution or do I just have to bury my head in the sand and live with it?

I have the same problem with my LC Sharp 37D43U I felt the sound was nowhere near the volume as was in the store & now most channels are low but only ONE channel can barely be heard.
I agree for the cost of the set the sound is equivalent to a cheap AM radio. Help or any ideas ???

I have the same problem with Aquos Volume, but only on DVD.

I don't have satellite or cable box and I don't have a volume problem with TV or VCR...only with DVD, so it's obviously not a signal source problem.

Even if the TV is built with "very small speakers", quality is Not limited to size...30 volume is only Half power...60 is MAXIMUM BLAST. (you should hear the TV down the halls and make neighbours pound on the walls !)

Since you have "ALOT OF CUSTOMERS WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM", perhaps it is a manufacturer's defect in MANY of the Aquos TV's. If so, Sharp should recall the defective audio parts and fix the problem free of charge , since we paid ALOT for TV quality. I'm certain Sharp would strive to maintain their well earned reputation and stellar service to customers. When we buy the Best, we Expect the Best.

I have the same problem. When I adjusted the volume on the cable box, it was solved. Turn up the volume on the cable box, and when you use your remote, it's super loud, even at midway!

Very loud it never gonna be. It's a tv with very small speakers, but I have a lot of customers who complain about that and I checked first the signal source. Sometimes the sattelite receiver or cable box give a sound not so good. The best way to check it is to plug something (an antenna or just a 2 inch wire) in the coaxial plug to see if on the tuner is the same sound. I bet is gonna be stronger.

    This is for Nordic,

You buy a TV, not a sound sistem. If you pretend to know something about acustic, then you should know with small speakers and a 32 " thin tv you can't have sound to "hear the TV down the halls and make neighbours pound on the walls !" because you have no box resonance. And before you rate a solution don't drink too much. Inapropriate is when you ask for sound trouble and I give you info about video issues. I told this is the way is designed and is nothing to do with.

This is for Draude,

Hey, Spicy comments buddy !
Didn't mean to offend you, but it's obvious there are folks out there upset with volume issues on the 42in Sharp Aquos.

I found a Review posted on another site:
"The sound on the Sharp was abysmal (tinny sound, max volume level far too low). Honestly, this $1200 TV sounded like a $5 AM radio."

Another review on a site reads:
"Sharp said it was a cable card problem. The volume problem persisted until it completely went out. Apparently there is a heat sensor problem and the television will overheat and cause damage to the volume control. They specifically call it a "heat sink problem". It is not a cable card problem"

Then I found a comment posted on this site:
"Max volume on Sharp Aquos is EAR SPLITTING"

Ear Splitting sound means REALLY LOUD!
Is it possible to get ear splitting volume without box resonance?

When we pay alot of money for a's reasonable to expect a decent sound to accompany it. The 42in Sharp has 2 x 15 watt speakers inside.
Small speakers can have fantastic sound, so Size has nothing to do with Quality.
I agree with's the way it was designed...and that is the's a Design Flaw and Sharp needs to correct it.

Either the speakers should be better quality, or correct the "heat sensors" so the volume is not damaged.

I read alot of your solutions to other problems....and you have been helpful to many folks.
Have a great day!

Sharp aquos tv won't turn on with remote, replaced ir board, still not working

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.
In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Sharp tv model lc-26sh12u very low vulumn even at max volumn control

Yes, don't buy SHARP, problem solved! SHARP is the worst brand of LCD TV. I had to bring my brand new SHARP TV in for repair within 8 months of buying it brand new, and of course it was no longer under the 90 day labor warranty. Also, every person I know who has a SHARP TV has issues with volume and eventually end up with a black vertical line along the side of the screen within 1 to 2 years. I highly reccomend SONY, PANASONIC, even SAMSUNG, LG or VIZIO. Heck, I'd go with Toshiba or Phillips before I'd ever buy anything SHARP again I was so annoyed with their customer service.

My sharp aquos television sound is very low even on max.

I had this problem with my Charter and the box had a sound button on the actual box, not the remotes. Now I have switched to Direct TV Box and have found while not so low I can't hear it, it is much lower than I know it can be and have to turn it up in the higher numbers or turn on the surround sound to hear it. Anyone know what to do with Direct Box, Direct didn't know.

Volume is too low

Just bought Sharp LC-32DH510E and it is going straight back to the retailer,as its of no use to me,and a shame
as its not a bad picture for 36 inch..

I have to use it at full volume, and I cannot understand
how Sharp put these on the market with this problem.
it`s pure insanity and they must have had thousands of sets returned.

All their technical Guy could tell me,was he sure hopes
the next range dont have the same problem, and no fix
other than getting an amplifier,as basically the speakers
are rubbish.l

Volume is too low, even then it is turn up to the max.

Have you looked at the menu on your cable or satellite box to see if there is a seperate volume control for the box?
Usually it is found under

Sharp aquos LC 37D43U

If you have satellite, I am assuming you at least have a converter box hooked up. If so, make sure the converter box volume is set at its max. There may even be a volume setting in the converter menu that forces the volume output of the box to always be at full so that you don't get variations in audio when changing channels. Warning...before attempting this, please turn down the volume on your tv to at least the middle setting so you don't blow your tv speakers if this works.
