I installed a new hard drive in my DELL Dimension 8250 PC, now the device manager does not recognize the PCI cards in any slot. I have tried to move them in the spare slot and also tried to re-install the drivers with no success. Why would changing the Hard drive cause this and what can I do to fix this?
Your PC could as well could just not recognize it. Try this:
Go to "Conrol Panel". Switch to Classic View if not already. Not find
System and double click that. Now you will ahve multiple tabs. Click the "Hardware" tab. Now open "Device Manager" After that go down do you see any yellow ? marks or Red ! marks? now double click on any yellow ? or Red !. or you can Right-Click and click properties. If you have the opion right away to reinstall the driver do it. That will go through Windows Update and search for nessar drivers for that card or device to work properly.
Thanks and please kindly leave me a vote!
Changing the hard drive would definately cause the problem you describe, I would need to use the dell restore disk to reinstall the operating system. Also you will need to use the dell application and driver disk to reinstall all the drivers and applications. BPCS

I have already reinstalled the OS, added the Applications, and the drivers. Everything works except the PCI slots. I did not see a driver just for this. I have seen on other forums that the PCI drivers are not included in the driver CD that DEll provides, is this right? If so, where would I get them?
Do you by chance still have the CD to install your PCI card? ith My PCI card it cae with a CD and i Insalled that and it came up right away.
