Pci driver problems after I installed a new hard drive.

I installed a new hard drive in my DELL Dimension 8250 PC, now the device manager does not recognize the PCI cards in any slot. I have tried to move them in the spare slot and also tried to re-install the drivers with no success. Why would changing the Hard drive cause this and what can I do to fix this?

I have already reinstalled the OS, added the Applications, and the drivers. Everything works except the PCI slots. I did not see a driver just for this. I have seen on other forums that the PCI drivers are not included in the driver CD that DEll provides, is this right? If so, where would I get them?

Do you by chance still have the CD to install your PCI card? ith My PCI card it cae with a CD and i Insalled that and it came up right away.

Your PC could as well could just not recognize it. Try this:

Go to "Conrol Panel". Switch to Classic View if not already. Not find
System and double click that. Now you will ahve multiple tabs. Click the "Hardware" tab. Now open "Device Manager" After that go down do you see any yellow ? marks or Red ! marks? now double click on any yellow ? or Red !. or you can Right-Click and click properties. If you have the opion right away to reinstall the driver do it. That will go through Windows Update and search for nessar drivers for that card or device to work properly.

Thanks and please kindly leave me a vote!

Changing the hard drive would definately cause the problem you describe, I would need to use the dell restore disk to reinstall the operating system. Also you will need to use the dell application and driver disk to reinstall all the drivers and applications. BPCS

Sorry I didn't help you, suggest you try Dell's website under their support section, perhaps they can steer you in the right direction. Second suggestion try a GOOGLE search on the problem. BPCS

Unable to open dell dimension 8250 cd-rom drive

Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver

You might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd restart your computer then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard

If there is a small hole on the panel of your dvd drive push a straightened paper clip inside until you feel it press down this will open up the drive.

Hope this helps.

Dimension 8250, No Ethernett, Sound card or PCI Input

Bear in mind that your antique machine dates back to 2003. If you are installing hardware that is newer than your OS, there is a strong chance that drivers do not exist for it.

Check whether the HDD is visible from the BIOS startup menu! If it is then you are looking at XP driver issues - or hardware configuration. I assume that the drive in question is a secondary drive? If so, the old ATA 66/100 IDE interface on these machines is fussy about the drives and each drive may have to be setup with a different ID 0/1 using jumpers on the drives. It is easy to overlook this part of the setup!

Here's an article describing how to do this: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/install-ide-hard-drive/

Dimension 8250 PC Desktop: Dell Inspiron 8250. I've re-installed Windows, bu...

Once Windows is reinstalled on dell computers you have to use resource cd that came with it and reinstall network and sometimes couple other drivers like video or sound. If you dont have the resource cd you will have to get some how to dell.com maybe from your friends pc or if you have another one and just download it from there. Go to dell.com,click on support then on drivers and software and choose your system and you will find all drivers right there. Hope this helps.

When I start up my Dell Dimension 8250 (Windows

Sounds like the machine got stuck in the middle of a installation of windows. Best thing to do is to reinstall windows and let the cd format the hard drive, if it can't format the hard drive then the hard drive is bad and would need to be replaced.

Dives on Dimension 8250 will not read without first using "eject"

First thing I would try is to go into windows device manager and uninstall both drives. Now turn off the PC and reboot it. Let Windows plug and play find and reinstall the drives. If it cannot find drivers, and you don't have the driver disks, tell it to look in c:\windows\system or c:\windows\system32, your current driver sould be in those folders. Gordon, if this doesn't do the trick, let me know and we'll move on to other possibles; but this should fix this problem about 80% on the time.

Need ethenet controller for dell dimension 8250 PLEASE ANYONE

lets try a few things

open up device manager, right click on the other device, click properties, open up the drivers page, update driver, search my computer automatically next next next, does it find the driver? if not then go back Select driver manually - advanced, do you still have the files you downloaded? direct the manual search into the download folder / where you have extracted the files, might install that way.

Let me know how that goes.
