Need to change IP address for this or my Actiontec router

I figured out why my DWL-G710 does not show up on my actiontec router. My router's IP address is 192.168.1.1 and my DWL-G710 is 192.168.0.30 and If you don't have the IP address the same until the #'s after the last period it probably won't be recognized. So how do I change the IP address if my DWL-G710 even without my computor or my router recognising it. Or can you tell me how to change my Actiontec router's IP address?

Take each thing seperately, in other words connect them directly to your computer first. Normally only 1 thing on a network should be a DHCP Server. But often a router will have a WAN port and and another router will be plugged into that. In that case the "another router" can run DHCP and will assign that to 1st router. 1st router now knows how to get to "another router" (2nd router). Which should allow you to get to it from 2nd router.

You can't talk to another /24 network if your computer is not on that /24 (aka Class C - 255.255.255.0). The 1st three octets have to match. Unless ... there is a router inbetween your computer and "another /24 network" - that is on both /24 networks. In that latter case that router inbetween has the route to the "another /24 network" and can get you there.

To configure router gear where DHCP isn't working plug directly into it on ethernet switch or LAN port. Knowing it's IP Address you have to manually configure your computer (take it off of Automatically) to match the 1st three Octets (1st three of the dotted decimal numbers) and with a 4th octet in the range 1-254, because .255 is the broadcast address. Make sure you pick a 4th octet that is not in use to your best knowledge. Not the ip of the router, or anything else that you are aware of on the network range. I usually pick .10 because normally nothing is on the lower end of a dhcp range.

Anyway hooked up directly and manually IP address set, you should be able to go about changing IP Address of a router or access point. Keep in mind if you change it outside of the /24 subnet you and it WERE IN that you will lose access to it again. And will have to change your manually configured IP Address again. Or go back to automatic - if you have now also enable DHCP on that router device.

Note that for an access point (range extender?) it doesn't usually matter that it is on a seperate /24 network ... as it doesn't operate at Layer 3 (Network, IP Addresses and such) anyway. It just switches Ethernet / Wireless Ethernet frames anyway - all of the IP stuff just transparently passes through it. You probably get DHCP from your 1.1 router ... and talk the local network and Internet just fine. You could use the above MANUAL IP method whenever you want to look in the wireless access point. But unless it's broken / not working, you shouldn't have to. Access Points normally don't do any routing at the IP level and don't run DHCP - so all of that simply doesn't matter. Of course you might like it on the same network range (/24) as your other router for ease of maintenance. Just don't plug into a WAN port, plug into a Switch/LAN port on your main router.

Trouble logging into a D-Link DWL-G710 Wireless

Let me try to get the info straight:

Your computers IP address (manually configured): 192.168.1.4
D-Link Range Extender IP: 192.168.0.30

If this is correct, you will need to change your IP to something like:

192.168.0.X (make sure it's not in use on your network already)

otherwise you will not be able to connect to it with your comptuer.

Range Extender DWL-G710 & Wireless N Router DIR-615

Try to configure your new router and you have to reconfigure the Range extender to tally with the new router. The IP Address that the range extender should have should depend on the DHCP server of your router that provides the IP Address.

How to Change DWL-G710 IP address

in your case, you only need to change the range expander's IP address from 192.168.0.30 to 192.168.1.30

to do this, you need to connect a computer's LAN cable directly to the range expander's LAN port. when both devices are powered ON, then access the initial IP address http://192.168.0.30

when you are in the web interface, click the LAN button and enter the suggested ip under the IP text box: 192.168.1.30 see figure below.

when you already set the IP, click on APPLY. then you are good to go. You can then connect the router, then connect the range expander to one of the router's port, then computers.

Need to change IP address for Actiontec router for verizon fios

definately you will need to change the IP address.
But you can also change the IP address of the wireless extender.
so instead of changing the IP address of the router, you can change the IP address of the extender.
For that you will need to connect the computer to the Extender.
assign a static IP to the computer 192.168.0.10 and Default gateway 192.168.0.30. that will open the set up page of the extender.
change the IP addres of the extender to 192.168.1.30.
that will help you.

DWL-G710 won't connect to 192.168.0.30

Here is a link to the manual for your DWL-G710.
D-Link manual on page 13 it lists the url entry should be
"http://192.168.0.30" This is a HTTP link not a HTTPS.
Also the address you typed in might be a typo. The IP address should be 192.168.0.30 not 192.168.0.30.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

I have a actiontec gt704wg trying to connect another router behind it .... iam not able to ...

your other router has to have the following settings:

1) it's IP must be on the same subnet as your actiontec. The subnet is the "third" number in the ip address. So if your actiontec has ip of 192.168.1.0, your other router must have IP of 192.168.1.XXX where xxx is some number other than 0.

2) the dhcp server of your other router must be turned off

3) you must run a lan cable from a lan port on the actiontec to a lan port on the other router. Note that the internet/wan ports are NOT used on either router for the purpose of daisy-chaining routers together.

Actiontec GT701-WG doesn't recognize a DVR on the LAN

I think the screen you may be looking at is the Application layer forwarding screen, the drop down box being populated by DHCP clients, that's why it isn't seeing the DVR. The DMZ Hosting screen doesn't have a drop down box, it only requires an IP address to be entered.

Hope this helps!
