check the Device Manager,
Go to Desktop/My Computer/Right Click/Properties/System Properties/Hardware Tab/Device Manager/look for Network Adaptor/ Expand it by clicking the + sign/Do u c any Ethernet Adaptor there or any yellow ? mark there....
If u dont c any Netwrok Adaptor then u dont have a network card installed in ur PC, if u have one then it will show up there, and if u dont ahve the correct driver or if's not installe dproperly then u will have the yellow ? amrk or an ! mark....
then in that case u will need the corect driver for the card to work....normaly Windows installs the required drivers for netwrork cards.....
Here's a list of all the drivers for your OptiPlex http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=PLX_PNT_P4_GX260&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid
There are a few ethernet drivers for that computer, so you'll need to pick the ethernet controller that is installed.
Hey evolution200. Heres the installer file for your Broadcom Ethernet Controller: ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R132254.EXE Get back to me and let me know if that worked out for you.
if you don't have the cd with the drivers and utilities, then you can download the drivers online with another computer. (you will need a thumb drive or cd to save it on) you will also need to make sure you know what brand of ethernet card your computer came with. once you get that ethernet card working, you can get online and download the remaining drivers, possibly through windows update. be sure to select custom update, not express, so it will search for the hardware drivers for you.
