Re: Navigon 5100

The Navigon is quieter than other GPS's even at full volume. I found a work-around. I use a FM transmitter that I purchased for around $30 for my MP3 player. When I really need to hear the Navigon, I simply plug it into the audio/antenna jack on the side. Sounds great then!

Navigon 1200 screen cracked,can you buy a replacement,if so where,thanks

Hello a new screen would cost just as much as replacing the unit.

Check out Magellan roadmate line the 1430 and 1470 sell for under $150 and have excellent maps, smart touch screens for entering addresses and more sensitive GPS receivers than even just two tears ago.

If you are set on staying with that model I would try finding a used one on ebay or craigslist.

My Navigon 5100 GPS will not turn on. At times, when it does turn on, it will not turn off.

I'm not sure if you realize this, but you must hold the power button for about 10 seconds to turn the 5100 on and off.

Navagon 5100

Hello 1234567i,

Most GPS receivers are not designed to be used for tracking. The GPS receives signals from Global Positioning Satellites and then uses those signals to calculate its current location, which it displays on the screen. However that data is not normally sent anywhere externally so there is no way for a remote user to determine where the GPS is.. Thus you cannot use a computer or any other device to track the GPS.

The Navigon 5100 appears to be no exception.

Without pairing the GPS with an external communications device (cell phone, two-way radio, laptop with a WiFi connection, etc.) the GPS lacks the ability to transmit its location reports to any external source. There certainly are ways that a GPS can be used with an external communications device as a tracker, but most GPS receivers do not have this capability out of the box.

Best Regards,
