Thanks just wanted to make sure i understand this. I power the reciever on and It makes a click noise from the inside. I press the power botton once more and it sounds like it is shuting down. You still think this is a power supply problem? I am really greatful for your input.
BTW it does the same thing when I use the remote control.

You have to touch all there buttons at the same time, then slide the screen up. If your screen is already up slide it down then slide it up. If doing all that doesn't work, make sure you have the right batteries!
Remove Power Cord then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then put the cord back in and try to start it.
When you press the Power Button are you hearing the fans run, the disk drive running, the cd drive click and the light on it comes on for a second or two?
Anything shows up on the LCD Screen?
If you press the power button and absolutely nothing is happening then you most likely have a bad power supply.
If you press the power button and you start hearing beep sounds or blinking lights in a continuous pattern (ex. 1 long followed by 2 short) then you have a motherboard issue. Those beep sounds and blinking lights tells the technician what is going on with the computer.
When you powered on the machine did you hear any beeps, hear the fan running, the disk drive running, lights blinking, hear the cd drive click, see the light on the cd drive door for a second or two when it clicks? If these things are happening you are getting power. If not, your problem might be with your power supply, hard drive or motherboard. Remove the power cord, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and press the power button. if it boots you had a static charge. If you get nothing at all but a silent system your power supply is bad. If it sounds like your computer is running but you can't see anything on the screen you might have a problem with your screen or video card. If you have another monitor try using it and see what happens. if it works so you can see things then your monitor was bad. If it does not work with another monitor but you still hear fans, and see lights and hear the disk drive spinning, then your video card is probably bad.
you have to press the power button once to get it out of hibernation. If nothing else works you can do one of two things:
1] Press and HOLD the power button for about 5 seconds or until you hear the laptop turn off. Then turn it back on again by pressing the power button momentarily.
2] You can DISABLE hibernation. To do this - follow these steps,
right-click the desktop and click on and click on "properties".
click the screen saver tab.
click the power settings button
in the power options properties dialog box click the hibernate tab.
The Garmin fitness models are unreliable. Problems like this are common. The Motion Based forum will provide help. If a hard reset does not work you'll have to phone Garmin. I found this post regarding the Hard Reset:
"With the unit powered off hold down mode, continue to hold down
mode while pressing power. Then let go of both buttons. You will be
asked "Do you really want to erase all user data?" Select yes
If
that doesn't work there is another "unprompted" hard reset that will
clear all data immediately without asking. It's not easy to do, so you
might have to try it several times before it works.
Hold down
enter and mode while pressing power (don't hold down the power button,
just press it quickly) Keep holding down enter and mode for a few more
seconds. You will then see the "select language" screen and the rest of
the initial setup screens."
Do you recieve an error message on screen when that happens? Turn your system to standby mode (red light on the console) and press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps then let go. This will reset the system to factory defaults. If that does not work call Sony customer support.
I fear that there's no easy fix. Sounds like the power supply or the board which controls it is bad. If you're not an electronics repair person, it'll need to go to a repair shop.
The same thing happened to me. It turns out the USB to serial adapter had issues. Anyway to fix try this. Hold the NAV + Menu and press the power button. Your Sportrak should start up in software upload mode. You can then use the Magup program in expert mode to bring your GPS to life. I had to find a computer with a serial port to fix mine.
