Thank you for your quick and clear answer.
Yes, it seems I'm doing what you instruct.

I repeated the whole routine but again without success.

The HOLD part is easy as, after pressing the DTV/CBL component button with the AV Power for 3 secs, the AMP indicates "Remote Setup".
Immediately I press the four digits an then I press DTV/CBL. That's all.

Is there something else to do after that (a save or enter key?) Am I missing something here?

To try it out I press: DTV/CBL, then AV POWER, then I try with TV POWER and finally TV CH, but nothings happens.

I also tried configuring the * (star) optional device, but also to no use.

The codes I used are the same ones that Otacon sent, I even tried some others I found in other manuals.

Naturally that for the DVD's configuration I used the DVD component button.

The remote works fine with the AMP and Tuner component button, that are integrated in the Receiver.

There is something I can't figure out: I have a separate TV and a Cable Box, how come I only have one DVT/CBL component button option? I tried both (TV and Cable) with this button but neither worked.

Can you suggest something else I could try?

  • bbrummer Jan 03, 2008

Following you recomendations I tried with a TV Sony Monitor, also with no results.

As I wasn't able to configure none of the four appliances I tried out (and that do work with other controls, i.e. : the TV set also obbeys the cable's remote, the DVD works with TV's remote, etc), odds are that either I'm doing something wrong during the configuring process or that the Yamaha "Universal" remote has a coding problem.

Anyhow here are the brands and models of the appliances I tried out and wouldn't work:

    Cable: RCA DB200
    TV Set: Philips 23PF9945
    DVD: Philips DVP 320
    TV monitor: Sony KV-9AD10

    Cheers.

  • bbrummer Jan 03, 2008

    Thank you for your hint.

I just tried it, with 10 and 20 secs intervals, as the manual says that if you don't press any buttons within 30 secs during the coding step, the setup process gets canceled.

The system should give a panel feedback, as it does in the first step were it shows "Remote Setup".

    Cheers,

  • bbrummer Jan 03, 2008

    Just checked: perfect, really smooth.

  • bbrummer Jan 04, 2008

I tried it, but it's very unlikely it may work this way, for:

    1. First of all: this is not the way described in the manual.

    2. When I press DTV/CBL and AV Power for 3 secs: I have to let go the keys in order to get the "Remote Setup NG" message in the receiver's panel (BTW: What's this NG for?? ), which I believe should mean something as " Code Input Ready" mode.

    3. If I keep holding the keys (or let go and press them again) the procedure restarts with the message reappearing.

This equipment is new and has a warranty, is there a Yamaha support e-mail I could use?

  • bbrummer Jan 05, 2008

Worth the try, but it didn't work :-(

Codes are four digits, and are the same in the manual as the ones Otacon sent. The remote model is RAV312, part number WJ40940 EX.

Actually you may have something there: my appliances are "Brazilian" (actually made in China and Japan for the Brazilian market) but, as I bought the Receiver (also made in China) at S?o Paulo's airport's duty free shop it may be a slightly different beast.

The included manual is for several models: USA and Canada (120V, 60 Hz), Australia (240V, 50 Hz), UK and Europe (230V, 50 Hz) and China, Korea, Asia and General Models (110-120/220-240V, 50/60 Hz)

Considering the country and the receiver's voltage my equipment should be the "General Model", and there is a chance that General Model codes are different from Brazilian codes.

Anyhow this is remote possibility, as the manual is the same for the several models and markets and it only presents one set of codes, and not a single comment on this matter.

It seems Yamaha is on winter holidays till the 6th January.

    Cheers,

  • bbrummer Jan 05, 2008

    I got it!

The trick is: you have to turn OFF the receiver and ON the appliance you want to code into the remote.

The appliances were always on in my former tries but it seems that the Yamaha someway interferes in the programming.

Don't ask me why but, after trying many times when turning off the receiver, it finally worked.

I coded the Philips TV and DVD, that are working fairly well, almost 90% (and all the important ones) commands work.

Haven't been able to configure the RCA SAT box, I guess that this is due that there is only one button for DTV/CBL (Digital TV and Cable) and perhaps the remote expects these two to be integrated, I can't say for sure. There are other used and unused buttons left:

Used: TV Philips,(exclusive TV controls: TV Power, TV CH, TV Vol, TV Input, TV mute).
    AMP: Integrated
    Tuner: integrated.
DTV/CBL: the main button (DTV/CBL) is used by the Receiver to get from other (i.e. tuner) into CBL mode, but no other commands appear to do anything.
    DVD: Philips DVD

Not yet used: MD/CD-R, DVR, V-AUX, * (star) , ** (two stars, presumedly for other tuners)

Any hints how to configure the SAT box?

I tried to configure it as * (star) device with no success.

    Cheers,

This can be a frustrating process! I have had similar problems in the past, but perseverance is key!

Please be sure that you did all of these tricks:

1 Be sure to press and HOLD down the appropriate input button while pressing the AV power button for 3 full seconds.

2 Enter the code. Unfortunately, you may have to try all of the codes listed for your manufacturer. There are 23 for Phillips! There are "only" 8 for RCA, so you might try that compnent first.

It sounds like you are doing the right things, but is it possible that you are accidentally hitting a wrong button during the process? ie; using the TV power button instead of the AV power button? After completion of the task, are you then hitting the proper component button, such as DVD before trying to use the remote to control that device?

I apologize if you have tried all of these things, but I am not sure of your level of expertise! Good Luck!

I am sorry for the frustration you are faced with!

I wonder if you have another device in your location that you can try to program, just to be sure that the devices that you are trying to program are supported!

For example, if you have an older RCA TV in another room, find the code for it, then try to program it. You shouldn't need to be near the Yahama to make it work! If you get it to work, you know that you can do it. We will then need to research whether there is a problem with your TV and Tuner working with programmable remotes!

    Thanks

It is possible that the codes you need are different than the codes that were supplied by Otacon. I know that, for example, I know that the Canadian country remote codes are different than the USA codes. Do you have the manual that came with your unit? If so, how many digits are the codes?

    This may be the "Trick"!

    Let me know!

  • Brian Berndt
    Brian Berndt Jan 04, 2008

Try 1014 or 1020 for your TV,

4084 4076 or 4090 for RCA SAT Tuner.

  • Brian Berndt
    Brian Berndt Jan 05, 2008

Well I must say that I totally missed the fact that you were in Brazil until I read your profile today, and at that point, I realized that the source of the problem was most likely the codes themselves!

    Keep me informed!

  • Brian Berndt
    Brian Berndt Jan 06, 2008

I believe that the key to your SAT equipment is what market it was intended for. The remote does not know where your SAT box was designed for use. The remote only knows what to do with a certain code. The SAT is the key. IF it was designed for use in the USA it may have a xxxx code. IF it was designed for use in Europe, it may have a yyyy code, etc. If you still have the manual for the SAT equipment, we may be able to figure out the code!

Make sure you punch in the right keys when you are programming. Just one wrong key press will spoil everything.

  • Damen Wong
    Damen Wong Jan 03, 2008

After you enter the 4 digits, you don't need to press anything else. Did you try punching it in slowly? Did you wait a few seconds after you punched it in (maybe it needs time to set it)?

  • Damen Wong
    Damen Wong Jan 03, 2008

So, basically after you punch in the 4 digits there is no feedback whatsoever? Hmmm...say are all the number keys on the remote functioning properly?

  • Damen Wong
    Damen Wong Jan 03, 2008

Is it possible that you need to continure holding the DTV/CBL component button with the AV Power when you punch in the numbers (like in other Yamahas)?

Sorry about my suggestion. I was looking through manuals of other models so I thought maybe...anyways you can reach Yamaha here:

I am glad that you managed to figure it out. It really does sound weird but I guess when the tuner is on and you punch in the code the tuner sends back some signal that prevents the remote from communicating with any other device. I think the SAT box can only be configured to the DTV/CBL. I remember seeing it somewhere in the manual but I can't seem to find it again.

My remote will not turn the tv on or adjust the sound, it will change channels

First, try pressing TV on the remote, check if that solves the problem. Then press Sat and try the TV power button again. If the remote previously controlled the TV, you lost the code for the TV. If you have your Dish Network manual, check if you wrote down the code when it was originally programmed. Which specific remote/receiver do you have? The programming directions and code lists are available here: http://www.dishnetwork.com/supportsection/remote-setup . You can also scan all of the codes to find the correct one: see http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/power-scan-instructions . Additional remote/receiver manuals are here: http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/manuals .

The direct coding procedure for the Dish remote that I have is: while facing the TV to be controlled (after adjusting the key for TV1/TV2 in a multiple TV system), press and hold TV until all four indicators light up. Then enter the 3 digit code. Press and release the # key. Then see if the code TV powers off when you press Power. Then press Sat and check if the TV power button works. Try additional codes if the TV doesn't respond.

If you recently got a new TV and you tried to program the remote for your TV, your dish remote may not have the code you need. (Most universal remotes are limited to codes for devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed.) In that case, you should use the TV remote (and see if it has an option to control the satellite receiver). Alternatively, get a new universal remote that will control all of your devices. (The remotes that can be programmed by USB are the easiest to set up.)

I hope this helps.

3.4 IR Dish Network remote control codes for a Prima TV/DVD combo. I can't seem to find any codes that work for either.

I'msorry I did also attempt to locate a Prima remote code within DISH Network's database aswell but unfortunately I was unsuccessful and have found no remote codesfor the TV you have. However, we can still attempt to program the DISH Networkremote to the Prima television without a remote code, this would be done bycompleting a Power scan. If you decide you would like to program the DISHNetwork remote to your TV using the power scan, I have included instructionsbelow to further assist you. Withthe desired equipment on, press and hold the correct Mode button (In this casethe mode button will be "TV") until all the other mode button back lightsilluminate, then release. 1. Pressand release the Power button. 2. Pressthe Up button once a second while pointing the remote at the desired equipment. Note: If the code for the equipment comes up, theequipment will power off. 3. Pressthe POUND (#) button. If the codeentered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.
After successfully completing the power scan to program the DISHNetwork remote to your T.V the remote should now control your TV. I hopethis helped! Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions orneed additional help. -Kirstie DISHNetwork

Need remote code for LG 32lcd350 TV for dish 3.0 remote

Hi there my name is Kimberly Escobar with DISH Network Customer Support. I understand you need the codes to program a DISH Network remote model 3.0 to an LG T.V. Some of the codes we have are 678, 506, 520,123, 000, 512, and 213. To integrate the code into the remote you would need to press and hold the clear T.V button at the top until all the other top buttons light up in red, then once you see them light up you would need to enter one of your codes followed by the pound key (#) for example if you choose code 678 it would be 678#. After you press pound the T.V button will flash in red 3 times after that try the remote and make sure it functions with your T.V. I hope this is helpful to you. You can also view this link http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/power-scan-instructions which contains information on how to program your remote to your T.V using a different procedure. If you have any additional questions or concerns please feel free to contact us directly at 1800-333-DISH thank you.

How did you get the sylvania tv into game mode with out remote

I had to use a dishnetwork remote that I had lying around. You also may able to program a direct tv remote, replaytv remote or universal remote. I have found that putting it into 'game mode' does not work. You will not be able to change the input without a remote.

Here are the instructions for the dishnetwork remote I was using (may differ slightly from yours):

Sylvania Television codes: 733, 506, 525, 536, 566, 568, 569, 573, 600, 610, 652, 654, 656, 659, 660, 664, 665, 666, 671, 672, 674, 677, 723, 724, 729

1. Verify the remote is a DISH Network remote. Look for the DISH Network logo on the bottom of the remote and Mode buttons or lights at the top. Why?

We have the codes for all DISH Network remotes and would be happy to help you with your DISH Network manufactured remote. Please contact the manufacturer of your remote for further assistance. Detailed instructions may be included in the owners' manual that came with your equipment. If not, there may be a toll-free technical support number listed.

2. Look up the Code(s) for the piece of equipment you are trying to address. If the equipment is not listed or a Power Scan is desired click here.
3. Press and hold the correct Mode button (about six seconds) until all mode button backlights come on, then release.
4. Use the number buttons to enter the three digit number (four digit for AUX mode) corresponding to the equipment. The light will blink off after each digit is entered and then return to a steady light.
5. Press the POUND (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.
6. To verify the code works, press the mode button. Then try several different functions for that equipment. Some codes may provide partial function, or respond differently than the button's titled function. Try the other codes listed for that device until you find one that offers more complete functionality.
7. Store the remote code for future use.
8. If the remote still does not operate the device, perform the Power Scan. If still no operation, it may not be compatible with that piece of equipment.
