Maytag Model MSD2754GR* In-door ice dispenser assembly

The little flap had a tooth on one side broken and was loose. I purchased the replacement part and now the flap/little door does not open when contact is made...I believe it has something to do with the spring loading assembly...what is it supposed to look like?

Door to ice doesn't open. Magnetic charge in solenoid works but piston isn't moving to move ice door. It moves freely by hand. What is going on?

I have a 2010 maytag refrigerator and it started dispensing ice on its own without stopping I had to unplug it. I've now plugged it back in and it's frosting up have taken off the I e maker.

The area where you put your cup and push the handle to dispense the ice there is a microswitch located somewhere, usually near the top of the handle. This actuates the auger to dispense and opens the door flap. Chances are the door flap is stuck open which is why you are getting the frosting up issue, but your going to have to take the dispenser apart to really isolate the issue.
The first thing to do is unplug the machine. After that slide out the area where the water falls, I guess you would call that a drip pan, and place to the side. Now, the part that always makes me uncomfortable, you're going to have to pop the trim off the door. Its held on by little clips, and the method I found most succcessful without damging the trim or breaking the clips is to get a small flathead screwdriver, and just above the lower corner, either one, slide it in between the trim and the door and kind of pry it forward. Once you get started its down hill from there. After you get the trim off, you'll be able to remove the control area, which is either held in by screws or sometimes tabs, and access the flap. Note that alot of times the door flap is fine, its a plastic little ring that is broken on the mold of the door.

Ice will not dispence thru door.

Without knowing the brand and model # I can offer the most common solution.

On most "pass the ice through the door" models there is a flapper door where the ice dispenses. The spring which holds this door closed when you are not dispensing ice becomes weak allowing the flap to stay open jsut a bit. This open space will create an ice dam in teh dispenser thus not allowing the ice to dispense. The repair is generally made by replacing the flap assembly.

All the best.

Whirlpool side by side with ice maker dispenser not working

Hello, we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing this problem. We would suggest checking the ice chute to make sure that there is no ice lodged in the way of the flap. If the issue persist we would suggest having a certified technician out to look at the Refrigerator. If you would like further assistance you can send your name, phone number, address, model/serial of the appliance and the date on which you purchased the Refrigerator to Thank you.

Mf12568aeb lights flashing and ice door flapping

You will have to call Maytag at 1-800-688-9900...Motherboard is bad. You can pull out the little plate at the bottom of the water/ice dispenser, then unscrew the two screw. Pull on the bottom and the panel should come out. Unplug the white connector on the left. This will stop the flapping of the ice dispenser flap.

We have a french door botom freezer maytag w/ and electronic water/ice dispenser. Model #mfi2568ae In the middle of the night the ice dispenser started opening and closing by itself and the led display is...

Don't be duped into thinking the display/dispenser board is the culprit. It may come a surprise, but this failure is often misdiagnosed. Because the dispenser is causing such a ruckus or because the display itself is blank or flickering, folks are led to believe that the display control board itself is the part that has failed. Looking at the history of our board evaluations, this little tiny control board rarely fails. And as crazy as it may seem, it is the main control board, aka the high voltage control of the fridge that is causing your refrigerator not to cool and the dispenser to be erratic.... This is the main control board of the refrigerator, located on the back of the unit. I've attached photos of what this main control board looks like. This main control board will need to be repaired to replaced.

Housing dispenser broken at ice flap

Yes this is a common problem.  However, you don't have to replace the whole door.  They were wrong.  Whirlpool makes a fix kit for this.  You can get it at  The part # is 8201649 and cost is $42.99.  The description will say door chute.  It is a door mechanism assembly.  It is fairly easy to install and comes with instructions.  Hope this helps.
