Question about Refrigerators

Hot refrigerator The exterior of our refrigerator is hot on the top and both sides. The inside is still cold and the freezer is still keeping things frozen. We removed the dust from the coils but that didn't help. Any ideas?

Freezer has warm spots. All around freezer is hot to the touch. Compressor is hot, coils are clean, condensor fan is running.

Thats normal.

The condenser coils are located just inside of your exterior cabinet walls on the sides and top.

So the freezer gets cold inside and heat has to be released from the condenser coils.
If this is something new, you may have a problem with the defrost timer

Pull the refrig out and remove the lower panel . Check that the fan motor is working and no object is blocking the blade to keep it from turning . If your compressor is a top model , remove the top cover and check the fan motor and coils for dust coverage .

I have some problem with my AMANA BX20ML Model REFIGERATOR

You may have a bad condensor fan motor or paper may have gotten pulled under the fridge and jammed the fan blade. The energy switch will not help with cooling it only controls exterior moisture.

Refrigerator side doesn't keep things cold, just cool, despite having it on the coldest setting and the cold vent open between the freezer. The freezer is working fine.

Look on the back wall of the freezer for a ice buildup. If there is ice you have a defrost problem. The defrost timer is in the fresh food section inside the control panel. The defrost heater and defrost thermostat are behind the freezer back panel inside the freezer.
Also check the freezer fan. If there is no ice buildup in the freezer the freezer fan motor could be bad.

Kenmore elite 596 73503201 no cooling in top compartment

if the freezer is getting cold the problem is due to the cold air from the freezer not getting into the refrigerator. There are several things that can cause this problem. The coils in the freezer icing up and not defrosting properly is one of the things that can cause the refrigerator not to get cold enough. Another problem is the fan that blows the cold air from the freezer compartment into the refrigerator, not working. When the compressor is running open the refrigerator's door and push the switch that makes the light go out. You should hear the fan blowing the cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator, when this switch is pushed in. If the fan is working then you will need to find what is blocking the air flow. Iced up coils are a common problem. The icing problem can be due to a defective defrost timer or something defective in the defrost circuit. Click here for more information. Check for these problems and let me know what you have found.

Ice build up on coil inside freezer

it can be two things the refrgerator probably has a small refrigerant leak therefore it ices up, or the defrosting heater on the begining of the coil is faulty.

Bottom of freezer/fridge only getting cold.

Thre is a fan inside the freezer which circulates the cold air around both the fridge and the freezer compartments.
You should be able to feel cold air blowing around the inside, particularly at the top of the freezer.
If the defrost thermostat fails open, the internal fan (depending on freezer) will stop and this can be the cause of the freezer being warm at the top and no ice.
You say the bottom of the freezer is blowing cold, but are you sure its blowing, as it can feel like a cold blow. Of course the fan could have failed or may be the defrost heater itself.

Refridgerator top freezer exterior wall hot

Folow these steps. It's worth a try.
1.Pull the fridge out from the wall and unplug it.
2. Clean the dust and lint off the compresser and everything else.
3. Also clean under the fridge.
4. The frame around the freezer door should cool down.

If the cooling fan was stuck , that may also be a cause for your refrigerator wall becoming hot.Check that too.
Hope My info is useful....Bye
