2005 toyota prius abs brake not working warning light and abs lights all stay on toyota cant fine problem they say the brakes are fine they want to put in a main chip which well cost $2500 i beg to differ its my brakes not main chip as the car drives ok

The ABS system is in need of immediate service. The hard pedal is the ABS/Hydraulics malfunctioning and beeping to let you know. Could be a sensor or module maybe a wiring/connection issue but have it serviced ASAP . A bad vacuum supply to the booster or booster diaphragm can also cause a hard pedal and any could light the warning light.

run the fault codes to find out the faulty sensors /solenoids / servos.

That happened to me on my 2000 toyota corolla and it was in the linkage adjustment on my emergency brake handle. I tightened up the linkage and then when I would release the handle, the light would go out. Hope that solves your problem.

The clicking noise could be related to the bigger problem with the abs/vsc actuator, this is a kind of common problem on the prius models, the actuator should be replaced, this is a very expensive part (around $2000) for the part only, while the warning light is on the traction control and abs are disabled, it will still brake normally.

Hi Graeme, When the ABS and the brake warning light both stay on it means you have two fauls with the braking system. Before you start the car open the hood and check the brake fluid level. I believe it will need topping up. If not check to see if the parking brake is releasing correctly When you have done that,and made sure you have effective brakes, take the vehicle to a technician and have that person inspect both systems. Find out if there is leakage of brake fluid and if there sort that problem first. The ABS can be sorted out second and then reactivated. Regards John
