Im having nearly the same problem with my sony xplods. i just got a 1000w sony xplod amp, hooked it up n everything and it was working golden for about a month until i was driving to school and they just cut off. the protector light is green when ignition first turns on, and subs slightly bump until i turn it up louder they cut off and the light turns orange. i checked all fuses and replaced speaker wire and nothing happened. whats the deal???
First make sure you are using at least a 12 guage speaker wire for sub connections. Second make sure you have plenty of breathing room in your mounting position, these things need air badly. Third of all, Xplods are not very friendly if they are cranked all the way up on your dB boost knob. Only crank it about 3/4 of the way up, then use your equalizer settings to tweak the thump.
