Question about JVC AV-48WP30 48" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Distorsion at certan points

My JVC - which I just acquired via craigslist has a strange problem. at the top third of the screen the images are constrained, to give you an idea what this looks like imagine credits rolling ...as they get to the top the letters become shorter in height. If a person is standing as the image his or her head is too small.

Also, the sides when viewing normal resolution images are not straight up and down, but rather are wavy. Convergence adjustment does not seem to help as all crosses are white. the boxes that go with the crosses are smaller in size than their counterparts at the center and bottom.

Any thoughts are gratefully appreciated. Feel free to ballpark estimate the cost for repair.

Thank you

    Hi BobbyJ,

Is there any way to provide a walk-thru to get into factory mode or reset it to factory mode?

    I appreciate it! Thank you.

    SK

The problem is from poor geometry which is a factory setting. you will need a tech come and do this with a template, in the factory mode. it sounds as if someone has got into the factory mode and changed settings.

If you get into the factory service menu you may screw up more than just geometry you must have a service manual to do this work. there is no factory reset in this menu because once you make changes in this menu you are the factory. this is something an authorized tech should do.

Acquiring images from a TWAIN Device PhotoImpression accepts images acquired via standard TWAIN devices. 1. Click the Get Photo button on the Main Screen, and select Camera/Scanner. A list of your TWAIN devices will appear. 2. Select your desired device from the Select Source pull-down. 3. Select the album to which you wish to link the acquired image(s). 4. Click the Acquire Options button to set your acquire parameters: a. Specify the file format for the acquired images. b. Specify the save directory for the acquired images. c. Choose whether or not to retain the original file format (for example, some cameras may save in a specific format-you can have the program convert the files to an option of your choice, or retain the original format). d. Set the file names for the incoming files. You can choose to have the program automatically name the files using the current date, or you can specify your own unique file name. 5. Click the Acquire button if you are capturing from a still camera or scanner; click the Video Camera button if you are capturing a still from a video. Follow the procedures specific to your device to import the image into PhotoImpression.
Updates for the Arcsoft application "PhotoImpression" are available from Arcsoft
If there are connection errors, that could be from:
  1. USB connection error
  2. Hardware issue
Try plugging the camera (via USB) to a different port on the computer, then acquire the pictures using the included software, or your own photo editing software that is capable of acquiring images from a TWAIN device.
Hope this helps!

Efforts to print 4x6 borderless print result in only top part of photo paper being used and top third of photo being cut off

First thing to try (and I'm assuming you're attempting to print a photo within HP Image Zone & have already selected the 4x6 photo tray? Hint: can be done via printer, properties, printing shortcuts) is to change the 'more options' directly below where you'd selected the 4x6 image size and then change to 'shrink to fit' vs. the default 'crop to fit'... Additional thoughts includes rotating the image (can be done directly on the preview screen...)

No picture displayed on record mode all the icons are on the screen but the screen is black

I HAVE FOUND THE ANSWER!
this is a strange method so bare with me (found the solution on another site)
turn on the camera and then hold it upside down then for want of a better word "tap" the camera near the lens (i tapped the mic in front of the flash) and hey presto your image will return!
dont ask me what this does as i have no clue, it might have the same error after you switch off the cam but just follow the same method and it will show images. or if your not happy giving your camera a slap then speak to JVC or any camera repair centre.
heres then link where i found this solution
