Question about Yamaha RX-V661 Receiver

1 Answer

RX-V661 Receiver I replaced Sony amp with RX-V661. The sony had jack in the back "Mix Audio Out". With this I connected to intercom system and was able to play music through intercom speakers. I had Best Buy (Geek Squad) install RX-V661 and now told there is no jack on the Rx that will let me connect intercom for play out. Does anyone know if there is such a jack on the RX and if not, how would I install old sony into system and connect intercom jack to sony and then play from RX-V661? I'm looking for simple connection. Thanks Tom

Re: RX-V661 Receiver

Your receiver has zone 2 output which is operated independently of the main reciever. so you can have a dvd playing inthe main reciever and the tuner playing over the intercom. read about it in your manual page 89. in will hook up to 2 RCA jacks in the back Zone 2 out.

Subwoofer plug broken?

Most likely the plug is ok but the level control for the subwoofer will need to be readjusted in the receiver, If the level cannot be raised making sure your source being used has subwoofer information, then there could be a problem in that circuit.

No auto setup display on TV

For the setup functions you have to use either the monitor out (a yellow jack on the top-right corner of the back) or you have to use component video out. HDMI will NOT work for setting up the system. This is one complaint to Yamaha from all of us.

I have a new RX V661 7.1, shuts down when I turn it up.

How much loudness are you trying for. Also, the program material and bass/treble settings factor in when asking a system for increased power...accordianman
