    Hello,

We have used reddy heaters for over 20 years now. With the old style heaters, which had no built-in thermostat or computer parts, seemed to work great. We could store them over the summer and they would fire up first thing in the late fall. Now every year since the new model's we have to spend half a day at least to get one to fire up,that is if it will.Nobody want's to work on them because it is to much of a headache. Why did you change a quality product into a peice of junk?

By the way,we have had to buy 3 new heaters in the past 4 years because of the fact. The old ones are just good for scrap metal.

    sincerely,

Runs ok without the top on. Replace the top and the flame blows out.

I know the basic workings of the heater. Have gone through the gamut of possible causes. Checked for air leaks, set fuel pressure to spec w/gauge. Have strong spark, filters clean, fuel filter checked. Fuel lines connected correctly, photo cell cleaned. Damn thing will run WITHOUT the top on it and puff out with it. I do not see how the solution above address this issue.

The kero heaters aren't really a pain to work on if you have a basic knowledge of what is to happen. Someone reported on one of their heaters that the motor armature was a tad oversized and wouldn't spin. He contacted the dealer and they supplied him with a new motor armature. reddy heat didn't issue a recall because they couldn't find the heaters. Ignition sources are the hot surface igniter or the spark plug type. The motor end air compressors are a vane type with close tolerances. The air pressure is 3.0 - 3.5 psi. The fuel nozzle forms a venturi that produces a vacuum that sucks the fuel up into it. the cad cell or photocell detects the ultraviolet in the flames and completes the lockout relay. no flame no woikee. the detector circuit has a solid state device called a triac. it is just a glorified motor contactor without all the movable contact stuff. it will carry 40 amps when its working right. you can bypass the safety circuit by jumping out the red wire and the black. the fan motor will run all the time.

A.c. shuts off frequently

If you stored the unit upside down or sideways, the oil may have run out of the compressor. If the unit is reinstalled, it's important to let it sit in the correct position at least 24 hours before starting it back up.

Also check the condenser coil (the part of the unit that's sticks outside) and make sure it's clean. Likewise, check the filter and the evaporator coil (the coil on the inside) to make sure they are both clean.

My Hoover runs for a few minutes and shuts off.

It's possible the thermal reset is defective. It shuts the motor off if it gets hot. Remove the bag door and take the bag off, remove both filters and then turn the vacuum on, just leave it sit there with the motor running. This eliminates the bag or filters causing any airflow resistance. If it still shuts off after a few minutes it's likely the thermal reset is bad. Some vacuums have an external thermal reset button which can be replaced if necessary but on your model it is built into the motor and you must replace the motor. If the motor runs fine put the bag and the filter under the bag back in - (make sure the filter is clean and not restricting airflow) put the bag cover on then turn it on again. If it overheats and shuts off then you may have a clog on there somewhere restricting the airflow. If so check the power nozzle area, the hose coming from the power nozzle, the extension hose and wands for clogs or restrictions.

No not the fuel pump. You most likely need to do a tune uo. New spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter. Deffinently change out the spark plugs. I would suggest using autocraft, autolite (fords brand} or some densos or ngk for better performance. Hope this solves your problem.
