The lights dont turn off anymore

The other night we noticed one of the lights looked dim, and 20mins later it popped.
after that, the lights just stay on. The fan switch still works, but the light switch doesnt.
its a JXT8136ADS range hood that we have had for just about two years.
i think its the control board, but i havent had much luck in finding a new one.
anyone else experience this? or know where i can order a new board?

thanks for your help

Replace Broan Model K260A Range Hood Light Switch Slider Assembly

Hi if the new part has no screw holes or place for clip and it is only push in connector ie you dont need to solder the wires to it then it will just pull out use a small screw driver under the edge and gently pry free you cant damage it anymore than it is anyway can you.
Also on the side of the new switch if their is no groove cut into it for a push on clip to hold it in place then it will just pull out and push the new one in.

I changed a light bulb on my Viking hood, now I can't dim the lights anymore...they just stay on bright. what can i do to get dimming feature back?

If you put a CFL in it, they are not dimmable. If it is a standard light bulb, it should not affect the dimmer.

Fan and lights come on and go off all day long on their own

We installed our Broan-Allure range hood about ten years ago. On three seperate occasions since, the fan has randomly turned on and none of the control buttons would turn it off. After a while it turns itself off. During those same times, when you turned the lights on, they would blink before finally staying on. On each occasion, I have removed the screens and metal underpieces to gain access to the circut board. Once you can see the circut board, remove and replace the 3 Amp fuse that is mounted on the board. (Radio Shack part # 270-1054)...even if the fuse looks good, replace it. Each time this has work for about three years, then it acts up again..

I cant get it to turn on

Hi lillady909,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: you cant get the lights or fan to turn on anymore is there a reset switch

First check the circuit breaker. If OK then check the transformer in the unit. It's next to the fan motor. If no power on the high side then you have a loose or broken connection. If you have no power on the low side the you have a bad transformer.

WS3 Broan Allure Range Hood Premier 36 inch

Hi shealy,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: This hood worked fine until a light bulb blew out. Put in a new light bulb, but the lights will not turn off. Is the light switch bad or is there a problem with the control panel? The fan still works fine but the lights will not turn off or adjust dim or bright.

You're on the right track. The light control switch needs replacing. You might try utilizing the Repair Directory to find a repairman. If you have the tools and ability just remember to turn off the electric first.

Broan allure II range hood

Did you ever find out what blew the fuse originally? Do the lights have a dimmer feature on them? If so, the reostsat may be bad, or the switch that controls the light intensity, 1,2,3. ect. Something caused the fuse to blow, maybe a wire on the bulb or switch somewhere.

Hood slide controls

switches and slide control for speedlook integral from the circuit diagram. it is worth while getting the printed circuit board out and looking to see if the track is blown. if so this can ofted be repaired by soldering wire links over the damaged part of the track

Airking Granada 36" Range Hood - fan doesn't work

often these motors have a condensor on the side - a bit like a cross between the little white cylinder in a flourescent light housing and a starter motor - they are a bit vulnerable but are pretty cheap and easy to replace. Sounds like that is the problem - little click is it trying to start but not getting the extra help from the condensor. any good electrician should be able to fix it quickly, unless a part needs to be ordered in. he should also check if there is a fuse inside, and if the main part of the motor is ok. If the motor has died completely (which is rare) then it is still probably worth replacing, but might be a but costly. also there could be a relay connected to the switch (a way for a small switch to transfer heavier current to something) - and sometimes these can also fail. Also easy for an electrician to check and fairly cheap to replace. some motors also have a thermal protection device, which may be able to be reset by pressing a small button on the side somewhere, also possibly faulty and cheap and easy to check/replace. if you can look at the motor easily, just see if there is a small plastic push button switch (almost certainly connected to the body of the motor somewhere) if so, make sure the power is off, push it in and it should click to an "in" position. Might solve the problem. If you get a guy in to look at it and he is struggling to find the parts, please post again and we can try and source them online for you. If you fancy trying it yourself then post again and we can try and talk you through it, not TOO hard but you would need a bit of electrical knowledge and tools. Hope this helps :)
