Dell D610 in bios & windows XP battery reported to be working normal. Press button on battery shows it is fully charged, but computer will not power on if only using battery power.
This is probably caused by a wirinmg/circuit failure inside the pc, that makes it possible to monitor the power like you describe, but unable to access the power needed for the whole system to boot, or more simple: you're battery can also be broke.
the best and safest solution is to have a pc tecnician check it out...
Hope this is useful, and greetings,
Olivier.

Monitor goes black (no green, no to flashlight test) even while we are working at fast pace and laptop is stationary. Monitor stays on (power light on), tried both crt and lcd monitors; same behavior. Can wiggle mouse or reboot to regain visual. Also when moving the laptop, screen flashes, both monitors. Cannot test with laptop monitor, as employee needs larger screen to do work and this is intermittent -- can happen 15+ x day or go 3 days with no problem.
