Monitor too dark

My StarLogic monitor is not set right - all pictures and videos are way too dark and almost impossible to see without holding the button down ( on the monitor) and still it comes back dark. Anything I can do to fix this?
Thanks

I just spent ten dollars to have someone tell me to solder something? If this is the 'help'

I just paid for I'd really like to be reimbursed.

    Thank You

would someone please tell me where to go to request a refund?

  • mewtoo Dec 31, 2007

No octacon, troylove11 was not absolutely right and I'm sorry you have such faith in him/her. This is not what I nor others consider technical help, but rather just something to say, it was obvious the problem was not even given the rightful probing and it most certainly didn't even come close to resolving this.

    Hello smilemaker,
Thank you for trying to give me more ways to fix this, however I have no idea how to update the drivers. Could you possibly let me know how to do it.
    Thanks

Hi,

To get a refund you need to send an email to experts@fixya.com.

I would like to add that troylove11 is absolutely right.

    To update your monitor driver.

    - right click my computer

    - select properties

    - click the hardware tab and click on device manager

    - expand monitors and double click the monitor listed

    - then pick update driver

    - then a wizard opens

    - you can try a windows update search if you want

    - if not then point to specific location where the downloaded driver is located

    - download the LCD driver from here

You can also download the driver from the CTX support site here.

You have caps in power supply going back, or leaky

  • Lashawn Robinson Dec 29, 2007

This is a problem that you would have to solder out a part and solder in a new one. If you are not familiar with this, then it's not for you to try. You would have to take monitor apart and find the power supply and locate the leaky capacitors. You may need a tech to do this, sorry.

I am sorry but I don't see any other way except to go inside of unit. I can only tell you what I think you need. I talk to people like you everyday with problems like yours most of them are happy with the info and some are not. I would be glad to go into more details with you if you decide to open it up.

Not sure if you have done this so give this a try.

* If possible, plug your Starlogic monitor into another working computer. If the Starlogic monitor works then it is the port on the original computer that has gone bad. The solution would be purchasing a new video card such as PCI or AGP video card. (Assuming all other aspects of your PC are working fine)
*However, if the monitor does not work then you know your monitor is dead. You will need to buy a new or used monitor. **You may want to barrow someone's monitor and test your original computer just to make sure the port on that original computer is fine.

StarLogic- Out of range

The computer needs its screen resolution reducing or changing in aspect ratio to suit the StarLogic monitor. Use a previously-working monitor and reduce the resolution on the computer to 1024 x 768 pixels or less (right-click an unused part of the desktop, click Properties and select Settings; slide the resolution slider to the left to adjust). The StarLogic monitor will now work; plug it in - do the resolution adjustment again as above, but increasing the resolution until you are happy. Going this way around, your computer will failsafe back to the previous (lower) resolution if the monitor says Out Of Range again, so you cannot lose the display along the way..

Intstalled starlogic moniter to PC and got error message

Hi,
the "Out of Range" message usually appears when the video card is putting out a video resolution or frequency that the monitor isn't able to handle. You should reboot your computer and BEFORE the Windows screen shows up, press the F8 button once every half-second. THis will bring up the boot menu for Windows. Select "Enable VGA Mode" and press enter. THis will load Windows in VGA mode where the screen resolution will be 800x600 @ 60Hz. Any modern monitor is able to use this. Once you log into Windows with the basic video settings, you can go into the Display properties within Windows and bump up your resolution and frequency as needed.

Starlogic 17'' as dual display not clear

Check and see if your NVIDIA drivers are up to date. Then try changing the resolution on your laptop to match the native resolution on the monitor and see if it works. If it does then you will need to look for the option to set custom resolutions on each monitor so that you can have both devices working at diferent resolutions if 1 is wide screen and the other is not.

Let me know if this does not work and you need more help.

Black flickering line vertickally through monitor screen

It could be either of these:

You're monitor is dying and you need a replacement (Starlogic brand is notorious for dying early and giving poor performance)

You're graphics card is going out. If you have an extra monitor laying around, take out the Starlogic one and plug in the other to see if the same results occur, if not, it's the Starlogic monitor, if the problem still persists, you need a new graphics card or need to update your current drivers.

blown capacitors on the vga board or the resolution for the display adapter is set too high for the monitor reduce the resolution in safe mode and you should be ok, if not then the bad capacitors are in need of being repalced

Dark

It could be a few things, it may be the monitor itself, which naturally has dark picture.
Or by factory default the monitor has low brightness.
Try going into the menu and putting the brightess up.
Most monitors have low brightness by default.
have a happy new year.

If you are getting a "No Signal" message, someone may have inadvertantly pressed the wrong button on the monitor. Use up arrow of button #5 below to cycle through RGB (normal VGA connection) and DVI sources. Down arrow will result in "No Signal" message.

There are five buttons at the bottom of the screen on this monitor. From the left:
1 - sound volume
2 - degausser
3 - power on/off
4 - monitor set-up
5 - RGB/DVI source
