Help;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Hi, I have a green lite but the tubes wont start, have unpluged it many times for reset. Took back of, there is a screching noise comeing from the bottom board, i tracked it down two a power supply, it is a coil ,copper wire, has about 6 legs going into the board. is there anything i can do other than ordering a hole new board. the board# is266862 from rca 100$ could it be a fuse. there are no fuses there. like the old glass ones. could it be something in front or behind the flyback, ithink thats the name fo the part thats bad, or can another part make it squeel? the set is only 2 years old. ANY HELP:::::::::::: Steve

Question #1 can you look on back and see what the chasis # is and also there is in small print a # that reads model like hd52w56....yx1 or yx5 or something like that. i need these numbers because there are certain models that have service bulliteens. also when ordering parts u need to get right parts. The sqealing from a coil usally indicates something is loading.that cuircit. you may have a component shorted. ussally when a tech hears squealing he looks at the horizontal output and flyback as the primary reason for this. Recently the prices for some of these boards have come down. and may be the best route to go.

After the TV has shut down, without pressing reset: press and hold both the Device (Input) and Menu buttons on the front panel until the green light starts flashing. It will flash a two digit code: 3-4, 3-8, 5-7, etc. You may have to let the TV shut down a couple of times (without pressing reset) before it will give the code.

Please post the code to help me determine the section of the TV that has failed and what it will take to repair it. It may be a good idea to repeat the test a few times to make sure the TV is giving the correct code.

Let me that we could proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Blue and green bulbs look like they have sawdust in them

Tubes need to be removed from set. Take off front lens with 4 screws, then remove the glass circle. Has a gasket, becareful. Do this over a sink. The fluid is a clear anti-freeze. Clean inside with Formula 409 and paper towel. Rinse with water and dry. There is a plastic expantion chamber on the side. Pull that out and clean it too. Put the tube back together. Note where the wingnut was when you took it apart and oriantate the lens to go in the same way. You can use a turkey baster to refill the tube through the expantion chamber opening. Fill it up as much as possable. Put chamber back on. Put tube face down for awhile and check for leaks. That round gasket can be reused sometimes, but check it first. Then put it back together and that's it. You'll have to unplug the board on the end of tube and the ground wires. Then unplug 2 seperate for the yoke and the other for the convergace. Make sure you mark the wires you take off and the way the tube came out. Everything must go back the same way it came out. Fluid can be purchased at Only need to do blue and green. Red never goes bad. Do one at a time. That's about it.
