My Panasonic 1300w microwave will not turn off. It doesn't cook but won't turn off without actually unplugging it or opening the door and leaving it open. Any help?

You may have a shorted door switch or a shorted relay on the control board.

You can see a help file on door switches here.

I have a 220 Advantium. I love it and it is 8 years old. When I tried to cook in it today it made a louder vibrating noise, almost like a grinding sound. Not sure that it was cooking because I stopped it...

Shuts off after 15 seconds

sounds as if the magnetron has gone bad.this part of the machine is still under a warranty, and you need to call for a service technician to look at it.

do not use the unit until you get someone to look at it and or replace it.

Panasonic Genius Sensor 1300W

See if this describes what's happening:
  • Put in time, push start and unit runs for 2 seconds, relay clicks, unit goes off. Cook time on display goes off and clock time comes back. Bad upper interlock switch and charred connector
If so, see http://www.microwavedisplay.com/safety.txt , http://www.microwavedisplay.com/disassembly.txt and http://www.microwavedisplay.com/doorsw.txt

Otherwise, if the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

That may be a loose connection in the wiring between the inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those components has failed.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Check for a circuit breaker on the back. If nothing, pull the plug and remove the case. Look for a blown fuse. If so, look for a shorted high voltage diode in the magnetron power supply or a shorted stirrer bearing located above or beside the cavity area where the microwaves enter. The stirrer is a metal fan-like device with a plastic bearing that often arcs internally. That shorts the microwaves out and blows a fuse. Replace the stirrer.

Sharp microwave losing cooking power

If the supply voltage is low it will take long time to heat foods. The second reason is the Magnetron. Since it is in the warranty period you can call at the sharp authorised service center. They will do it free of coast.

My panasonic genius microwave is about 4 years old and it just died is there any way of fixing it

my microwave started giving me notices to check the manual and would stop cooking the food. I turned the machine off, unplugged and looked at the back panel. Was I surprised to find the air flow vents completely covered in black dust. After wiping it up with a cloth and then a small toothbrush to completely clean out the air holes, the microwave works fine. What a simple solution to something I was beginning to think would be a major repair job. Surprise---simple is best!!
