Question about Philips CDR770 CD Recorder

1 Answer

Does not record

The recorder doesn't record. I have followed the instructions to the letter. I get to the point where the Record light stays on indicating that it is recording but after about 20 seconds the record light goes out and I get the the word "Busy" for a second and then the letters "UPDREE" appear. The manual says that it means "updating disc contents". At that point that word goes away and the recorder stops. Any advice?

Re: Does not record

Have you selected the correct input? These recorders are desinged to stop after 20 seconds of silence. Do you get any level showing on the record level meters? Press the source button until it shows 'analogue' if recording to the 2 phono inputs.

After i have finish recording and i am finalizing the the cd code OPC appears on the screen, and being finalize the cannot play in other cd player why?

OPC means the unit had trouble Optical Processing Calibration, which means the disc surface may be damaged. Using brand name media and being careful to not touch the recording surface would help.

It's not completing the finalization so it won't play in a CD player yet.

It's mostly in the manual

OPC: Stands for Optical Processing Calibration.

When you see this message in the Information

Display for the Record DeckK, it means

that the laser transport inside the unit is making

the calibrations and adjustments needed so that

the recording process is optimized for the specific
disc in use.

When an unfinalized CD-R or CD-RW disc is

placed in the Record Deck%, the letters

OPCwill flash once the Table of Contents has

been read. This indicates that the unit is optimizing

its circuits for maximum compatibility with

the specific recordable disc in use. the number

and total running time of any tracks that have

already been recorded will appear in the

Information DisplayK, and the appropriate

indicator SPwill light to tell you if a CD-R or
CD-RW disc is in use.

To Finalize a disc, place it in the Record

Drawer%. Once the disc's Table of Contents

information has been read and the OPC process

has been completed, press the Finalize button

E@and note that the Finalize Indicator

Uwill begin to flash. Within three seconds,

press the Select button9*and note that

the Finalize IndicatorUwill stop flashing.

The Finalization process will take up to two

minutes, depending on the length of material

recorded on the disc. During the Finalization

process the Record Deck will not accept any
operating commands.

It is not recording. I press play then I record. When I am finished I press stop. I then press finalize then record. But it does not record. Am I following the proper recording sequence?

Don't you have the manual?

Press REC and the RECORD indicator will start flashing when the unit is ready to record. You can set your levels for an analog input by playing it while in this mode.

When your source is ready and you have your levels set up, press PLAY on both units.

If you don't see the time incrementing , it's just standing still.

Anytime I try to record with my HHD BurnIT cdr 830, the red record light will only be bleeping and the time counter will not work as well. And there will be nothing recorded on the cd.

Just a guess, but did you ever try to hit the record a second time once you're all set up to start? The first press of the record button places the machine in record/pause mode after it calibrates itself to the disc.

Recording favourite tracks

After bookmarking the selected tracks and you are ready to copy them to the HDD, make sure the bookmark abbreviation is lit up in the display. All you have to do is press the bookmark button on the remote or on the recorder- after pressing "copy" but before pressing play.
