Slow speed with my Belkin G Router!!! Help!!!

I just got the Belkin G Router, I had trouble getting a wireless connection to my laptop. I called Belkin Support and they fixed the problem by making some dynamic connection. But then when I go to Youtube to watch videos, my desktop which is hardwired to the Belkin router and my laptop which is wireless connected to the Belkin router are not loading the videos or just loads less than half of the video. But when I connect either computer directly from the attyahoo modem the connection is perfect. It seems that there is a problem with the router!! Help if anyone know how to fix this!!!

Very similar problem here. G Router is physical connected to my Windows
XP desktop. I have a laptop running Vista and is the only gadget
connected to my G Router wirelessly.

Streaming videos are a main headache. They start pretty fast then stops anywhere halfway through the length of total playtime.

I've never tried any other router though so, I am totally unsure
whether this case is due to a faulty Belkin G Router system or an
    incompatibility with the sharing devices.

I have used the Belkin wireless G router for 2 years and it was working perfectly OK, now it is so slow that I can't connect to anything that requires a password, connections simply time out. Other pages are slow, but eventually display. I already updated the firmware, reset the router, reset to factory setting and no change. I have a Windows Vista and a Windows XP computers, the problem is seen in both computers, when wired and wireless. If I connect modem directly there is no issue at all. Same page takes 2 secs with direct connection to modem and more than a minute through the router

Same here. Slooowww connection. if i conect directly to the modem I can get upwards of 10MBdown and 900KB up connection. Connected to router its around 1 - 1.f MB down, upload wont even finish. already tried all the settings in the router and PC.

Alright figured out a way to speed up the connections

under firewall - Disable it. Must be slowing down everything. Just make sure you have at least windows firewall (XP) or something else as you are directly connected to the internet now.

Let me know if this helps anyone.

Check your firewall in the router. wireless g is set to 54mbs. and if your laptop is a b device it is set to 10mbs and eathernet is 100mbs. If I am watching utube or what ever I plug into eathernet. down loading is real slow with a wireless b device

Blu Ray players, draw alot of interference into the wireless router. Try moving your router into a different place, or somewhere away from your Blu Ray player.

N1 Belkin to HP notebook - connection speed drops to 24mbps

It might be because of other electronic devices that works nearby in similar frequency...devices lik microwave oven, inverters, modems provided by the ISP which comes along with a battery backup, especially RCA modem which doesnt allows other wireless devices to work nearby it... try to relocate the router to a well ventilated area, and make sure you have kept the router atleast 5 feet away from other electronic devices...it could help....

Wireless signal keeps dropping/dissapearing

Check my tip
Using Router and Wlan adapter from different brand (Dynex + Belkin) is sometime calling for trouble: you must configure both to be sure to be on same standard (or change Both).
I'm using Netgear + Belkin and tune is not easy
On router config check radio power, reduce the used standard (B/G A/N) to the only one used by Belkin adapter (N).
Be sure you removed Windows zero wireless configuration (= use windows to manage my connection= OFF)
edit your belking wireless networking utility to automatic reconnect:

9db77e5.jpg

try downgrading to G standard from router side
Check your network connection plugging your laptop to router via lan cable.and check network params (DHCP DNS etc.).
Then check wlan connection near router, if you experience wlan drops only when far from router, find any possible interferences source (Microwave, cordless, remote) remove it or be ware you cannot have wlan when your wave is working.

Belkin Wireless G router

If you're computer is slow in the internet connection because of this router, that will be cause by the router since this device has a built in firewall inside it and the speed of internet that you have before when directly connected to your modem wont be same ecause of that, and there's no way you can add up a memory on this router, if you want try to update the frmware of the router and that will help in speeding up the connection....

Hope that helps........

Low signal strength on Belkin F5D 8233-4v3 wireless...

With speeds around 10 mb to the router over wireless you may want to consider checking if AUTO chanel is enabled or available on that model
If so then enable it.

Also consider moving the router if there are any other wireless devices nearby eg. cordless phone.

It may also be the the windows "zero wireless configuration" service is finding too many other wireless signals nearby that may be stronger than your own

If that is the case you may want to disable the service and set it to manual. Better still if you have a utility on the laptop (most have) then try set that to control the wireless setting instead of windows.

One of those last two items should help you maintain a better connection but only holds true if you have a reasonable connection to the router to start with.

You might also consider a cheaper wireless repeater to enable you to get better speeds

Weak connection

HI,
As you have changed the router still the connection speed is slow, in this case it's better to contact your ISP get the line tested or a proper signal strength.
Also conduct a speedtest by going to the website internetfrog.com....indications are towards a line fault.
