Question about Computers & Internet
I have been using intel 915glvg motherboard since 2005.It have 4 slot for memory. It supports for 400mhz FSB for RAM. I was using 512MB ,400 Fsb Hynix RAM.Recently I upgraded it to 1GB RAM .For this i installed a new 512MB RAM(400FSB) (which is not hynix brand) in another slot. But now my system shows that system memory speed is 333 FSB. When I remove any one out of them then system show 400 FSB.Why it is happening. The sencod RAM that I have used is not of Hynix brand. My old Hynix 512 Ram consists 8 ICs on it while new RAM which i have installed consist 16 ICs(8 on each side) on it.
Have you tried installin the memory in various slow...ie 1,2/1,2/1,4 etc?
Its sounds like your mother board is unable to run the sticks at the rated speed as they are different brands and densities so its dropping the speed to 166.
Have you tried going into the bios and changing the ram speed there?
Also try changing the command rate from 1T to 2T to see if that helps.
