Question about Flat Panel Televisions
I have had this set for about a week. This morning I reran the channel auto program and when I returned 30 minutes later, the TV was making a loud humming noise and the screen was black with no picture, even the menu will not appear. When I got close to the set I can see a 20'' crack that starts in the top middle of the screen and then goes down 6" and then extends right another 10 or so inches, and the top of the TV was very hot. The crack appears to be about 1/2 inch from the front of the screen. I called Samsung and have a service center appointment in my house next week. The crack was not caused by physical damage, but I am afraid they might diagnose it as that, physical damage which is not covered by warranty. Has anyone ever heard of this? Thank you.
This appears to be more common than Samsung lets people know. There isobviously a manufacturing defect. Same thing happened to my tv and it was only 4 months old. Samsung refuses to honor their warranty claiming it's physical damage...no kiding...there was a pop like a small firecracker going off inside the TV and the screen broke. You think think with this kind of catostrophic failure there would be physical damage? We're going after Samsung (BBB, FTC, small claims, etc.), if we can get enough people maybe go class-action.
