Question about Cyberhome DVR 1600 DVD Recorder

After Recording and Closing The Title, I get a "No Disk" error message...

Then, if I eject and re-insert the disk, It spins with a little grinding noise and gives me another error message of "Unknown Disk". To this point, I have only tried recording from my saved DVR titles. I'm going to try to record direct from live TV after I submit this entry, and we'll see what happens. I've already burned through at least half a dozen DVD+R disks trying to get this to work. Please help before I throw this DVD Recorder out the window in frustration!!! Thanks in advance

Re: After Recording and Closing The Title, I get a "No...

My DVR started making noises and was very slow to start up, it was caused by the rubber ring in the center that grips the disk being dusty. I cleaned with long q-tip and alcohol to fix it. I had to take my Panasonic DVR apart. I can't find a cleaning disk that addresses this slipping problem.

Re: After Recording and Closing The Title, I get a "No...

I had this problem frequently over the last year, the one thing I did notice was that if the DVD's I attempted to use were very lightweight or thin, it would not format them. If you can find any of the older, thicker DVDs to record on, it may help. By the way, the ones I had that worked best were DVD+RW purchased at $1.99 for six. They had a heavy orange enamel on the tops. Withstood daily use for nearly a year. Still have some, even though the player needs medical attention now.

Error reading any dvd disks

Have you tried a DVD+/-RW ?

The noises that you are hearing will be the spindle motor trying to spin the DVD as the lifting presentation tray for the read/write head has not located, if the media is not spinning this will never be able to read the lead in on any DVD as it has not presented the disc in the correct place.

If is is out of guarantee then I suggest that you check to see if the DVD is spinning by removing the top cover with the power OFF then eject the tray and try to load the media a small touch of the DVD in the clockwise motion should cause the media to start spinning, this is for diagnosis only if this is the case then the spindle motor will need changing

Have the Samsung DVD-AR650. When I insert a blank

My last recommendation, before seeking a replace or repair; would be to run a cleaner disk. Optical drives can be affected by dust on the optical block lens or dust on the disk itself. Sometimes a dirty lens can even cause your drive to eject the disk when you try to read it. It is recommended you clean your lens every 3 months in an office environment, or once a month if you use the drive in an industrial environment. They range in price from $3 to as high as $130. In such an

"No Disk" message on front display

If when you insert the disk you hear a whirring and clicking noise, CD spins, and does not read, then that is a problem with the DVD lens.

The DVD lens try to focus on the DVD track, by moving lens pickup and spinning the disk, but cannot read the tracks because the lens is dirty or defective.

Try first cleaning the lens with a DVD cleaner disk. And also if you can see the lens from the outside try blowing some canned air on it.

If this still does not help, then the lens pickup may be faulty, in this case you often replace the whole DVD drive unit inside the DVD player.

After formatting the disk, it reads that it is an invalid disk.

I have a Liteon LVW-1107. It is a very tempramental machine. It tends to prefer +R or +RW disks. Will record on -Rs but may fail with them.
On occasion when I insert a store bought DVD movie I will get an
invalid disk warning. The machine seems to get confused.

What I do is pull the power cord and let it set a few minutes.
Give it a little time to reset. Sometimes you have to do this a couple times. It has always worked for me. I hope it will work for you.

Good luck. This is not a top of the line machine.

Your DVD may not support the codec that you used to record with. There are many formats like DIVX, Mpeg, and Mov files. Your system must support the format that you recorded or it will not work.

Problem dubbing from VHS to DVD

Try different brands of disk, most dvd-r recorder are disk sensitive, buy only one disk per brand, find the brand compatible to your recorder by just inserting the disk and wait for confirmation that it is ready for recording session. I have tried around five brands, sony and maxell as well as verbatim are good dvd-r disk.
