My ps3 won't load any games

i have the same problem i put all my game discs in and i see the little circle reading the disc but nothing show up i need help i want to play badddd

My ps3 wont read any discs, games, etc. I put in the disc but it doesnt show. Please help.

As this is an old topic, I figured I will just throw out there that when this happens, call Sony. After you have done everything they ask (update firmware and reset system settings) with no success, you will end up having a box sent to your house from Sony. They will then provide you with either a new or refurbished system.

I got mine xmas day no disc and no menu on hdmi, i went thru av cable and got connected to the net then I did a couple of system updates then I put assasins creed in and it updated again this time it worked. I then went and got myself a component cable from game, got a blank screen , so i held down the standby button for a few seconds till the second beep then it set itself and I could play 1080i, it takes some setting up this ps3, and I dont class myself as too thick!

Well I think i have a solution try getting a can of compressed air and blowing out all of the dust, maybe alot of dust got into the system and got damaged. Hope this helps.

guys i know wat it is on the left side of ur ps3 take the cover off and take out the drive then take it to best buy tell them u want one just like it then take it and put it bak in there and it will be fine this problem happens b/c ppl go a long time with out turning it on or dusting molds in there on the drive just remember to buy a can of air and clean it bout every 6 months

First, Let me just say I think Sony Are a bunch of robbers!!!! 150 bucks to send me a refurbished piece of ****!!! What I did (if you are daring enough) is take the system apart, lift the cover off the blu-ray loader and wiped the lens with a kleenex softly. There are videos all over youtube on how to disasemble you PS3. Not hard at all. There is also a ribbon looking thing that connects the whole thing. Lift the black lock so the ribbon comes out, give it a wipe put it all back in and reasemble. I'm not saying this will work for you, but it did for me. Been working great now for almost 3 months. If your warrenty is still good and you have your reciept then you might want to send it in, but in my case I had nothing to lose. And you can bet you **** that they wouldn't ent you the same one back, Anyway Hope this is helpfull.

this is a fault with nearly all ps3 i had the same with mine wouldnt play blu-ray only play normal disks sometimes it played blu-ray dvd but it never played blu-ray games. its not the laser like sony tell you, otherwise it wouldn`t play normal disks its the same laser, they say this because sony dont make the blu-ray parts and they dont know how to fix them they just swap the whole drive. its a chip inside that reads the blu-ray disks, the way to solve it is to reset to factory settings then if its still not working format all your system (but remember to backup anything you want to keep onto a memory card) i have fixed several ps3 like this now, the chip just needs resetting which happens when you do as above. If this doesnt work its more serious than you thought and buying a blu-ray laser about £40 wont fix it u will need a full blu-ray drive about £100. At this point if i was you id sent it back to sony and pay the out of waranty fee of £142 because you get another waranty for the extra price.

Ok I just took my PS3 apart and it had a game in it i put it all back together but now it will not let me even put a game into the machine

You dont need to fix it .. first :
1. install playstation home
2.hold the ps botton
3. choose exit then go back to menu and the cd game appear

firstly determine that the disc is not dirty or corrupt. simply by trying another disc.

Turn off from power and turn on again so single red light is illuminated at the front of the ps3. remove discs!!!
Simply press and hold the standby button and it will beep keep it held until another beep (usually abuot 10 secs) and the green light will illuminate. if successful the screen will jus display black. if so press and hold the standby button again like bedfore but this time wait for a third beep before releasing. If done correct a menu of 6 options will display. if not try the ps on a different TV and ensure that you are definatly on the right channel (eg av 1 or av 2 blah)

Select restore to default and proceed with the steps, when prompted pressing "x" to continue.

You may find the hard drive is corrupted and it will begin to restore. continue. (or any other system information is corrupted) just continue to restore at the playstations prompts. It may take a few times to completely restore it, but hopefullly the playstation will go back to working condition. If not contact sony. good luck!

same with most here, i had the problem my PS3 games would not load, no problem with dvd's or other games, tried setting it back to default in the settings through the menu...that did not work, what did work for me is this.. 1.turn your system off so all that is showing is ur red light, 2. Hold down the start button till it beeps three times (it will turn itself off again) 3. now again, hold it down for another 2 beeps and release b4 its gets to a third, and follow the on-screen prompts. It should now be working, cause it worked for me, before i tried it i was also worried i would have to send it in to Sony. thankgod i didnt cause im stuck out on an island and it would have taken far longer than most people to get it back. Hope i helped at least a few of you out there with this imformation and goodluck.

I had this problem and this is the solution that fixed the ps3 for me.
As daft as it sounds its all down to the display settings of your ps3 in comparison to your tv - I believe that updates on certain games and/or internet has changed a few settings by accident which have caused this to happen.

Solution. (HDMI Cable)

Step 1: go to Settings > Dsiplay Settings > Video Output Settings > HDMI > Custom
Step 2 Now untick everything apart from 576p and 720p
Step 3 Confirm all settings by pressing "X" and following the steps.
Step 4 Insert a game and start cheering for joy as your PS3 now works.

ring sony n they will come nd pick it up my warranty had even run out but they said they will fix it on behalf of sont :)

What has happened is that your hard drive has been corrupted. I recently upgraded to a 500 GB hard drive and the same thing happened to me 2 months in with the new hard drive. When i replaced the 500 GB with the original 80 GBdrive, the system worked perfectly. So you can either spend $163 (Price with tax for sony to fix it) or you can spend $125 for a new 500 GB hard drive. Unless you have backed up your system before it broke, either way you will lose your data

check the resolouition setings in display setings on your ps3 menu only have the screen set to the res on the back of the game box only have this selected and the one you cant change i had the same prob rang sony and they guided me through very helpful

if under warrenty give sony a call explain your problem do what they say. i did. my ps3 didnt read games but if did it would freeze 5 min though it and the sound went off. now after i rang sont they are sending me a new 60gb replacment.

I had a 60gb ps3 which played ps2 games - we sent it to repairer as we had extended warranty - received it back but it would not boot up so re-sent it back and was told it was not worth repairing so we got a new 80GB one. We have found out that the new PS3s only play limited PS2 games...I think this is due to the problem we had. It seems when the 60GB play PS2 games then the system then becomes uncompatible with the PS3 games and freezes. There is no way we will play the PS2 games on it...we lost all our data on the games...

i had one problem with my 1st ps3 where the screen went blank when i turned it on the sent me a new one then now nere to christmas it messed up again it wont play any games i phoned custmer helpline there send some to come and repair it lets hope the new ps3 dont mess up but on the 1st ps3 my parent were gunna get me another one for christmas till i phoned up they wont take the ps3 in if theres no need hoped this helped anyways

mine went down two yesterday . have it about 2 years now so warranty prob gone. i thought sony were good
