Yikes! Really? I wouldn't attempt this unless you're ready to reduce this camera to a pile of precision fitted parts that will probably never go back together nor be expected function again. If the camera already no longer functions, you could recover some of your investment by selling it on the likes of eBay or Craigslist. You might be able to trade it in towards another camera (or anything else I suppose). If you trade for (or buy for that matter) another Nikon D80, you could reuse all your lenses, speed light(s), etc. If upgrading to a different Nikon, bring a complete list of your old lenses and accessories to determine if they can be used on the new camera. Not all Nikon equipment works on all Nikon camera bodies.
Tearing down the camera will most likely reduce it's value for sale or trade as most people wouldn't attempt this. The device is a high-tech piece of precision parts carefully assembled in a controlled environment. Oils from your hands and other contaminants may end up on parts that over time could adversely affect the camera's functionality or be visible on every image captured.
The camera may possibly be fixed cheaper than you think. Check out the Nikon Digital Imaging Support page below:

When pressing the shutter release button two different event occur: 1. either the battery shows drained battery even though battery is freshly charged. Camera is frozen. 2. upon pressing the release button display shows a flashing "F" and camera is frozen. It happens randomly and with several independent users. This problem occurred with D70 and D80. I need to turn off camera several times before I can use it again. Nikon admits problems with suppliers but is not helpful otherwise.
