Re: Power went off

Have you tried unplugging the receiver from the outlet to let the cpu reset?

How do i reset avr-1705 denon amp?

Before you reset, are you doing this because the amp went in to some sort of protection mode?

Resetting will allow the amp to redo the self diagnosis. But if the problem remains then the amp will shut down again. Resetting doesn't fix things like bad wiring or blown output transistors. So only reset once you are sure you've checked through the system for any problems.

As a safety measure, disconnect your speakers before doing the reset. If the amp goes in to protection again then it is an indication that there are either shorted speaker outputs inside the unit.

Unplug the unit from AC power for 30 minutes, and disconnect all of the speakers and other associated equipment. Upon plugging back in, press and hold the power button at the same time for 5-10 seconds to force a hard reset.

If the unit starts up normally start connecting the speakers one at a time (shutting the power down before connecting each one), until one of the speakers causes the receiver to shut down. This speaker is faulty and would need to be replaced.

If the unit does not power up with NO speakers connected, then it needs the output transistors replaced inside the unit. These directly drive the loudspeaker outputs on the receiver itself, and one or more of them being shorted (closed circuit), will trigger the error on the display of the receiver, and it will not go off until the problem is repaired. They are not user-replaceable as they are PCB mounted, and thermally coupled to a heatsink. In this case, the unit is in need of service.

My pioneer receiver vxs-918v standby/on button is blinking and will not work. We were watching a movie last night and it just went off. It will not do anything except blink. The manual just says call a...

With the power off try holding Tune + and Auto surround/stream direct buttons for a few seconds to reset the protection circuits. Also, check the back panel for any loose wires. If a speaker wire is touching the metal it can overload the unit.
Make sure to keep 8" of empty space above the unit for air, as overheating can cause this problem. If it fails again, there could be bigger problems, so get it checked

Turned unit on, and then went off, now will not

Had the same problem with my one, got a repair guy to replace the intergrated circuit (IC) at the standby circuitry but that did nothing, in my case one of the transistors that controls the relay was short circuiting the power supply to this circuit, yes i know it does not come up with check speaker wires but is part of a relay control, just get a repair guy to replace the relay control transistors and/or the zenor diodes in parrallel with the relay coil, if this does not fix it make sure he searches for dry joints and use a freeze spray to see if any component is affected by temprature, hope this helps, also to fix it intermediatly, this could work is unplug the unit, then while holding the power button throught the powerup stage, plug it back in, it will then switch off again, release your finger off the power button then try and power up it again, this resets the power supply and should work normally again fora while anyway. cheers

Pioneer VSX 915 powe off

Had a power surge last night and got the same problem. Unit wont power on and has a blinking blue light on standby button. I found the solution from the service manual for a similar model.

Hold down ENTER and ADVANCED SURROUND buttons.

This resets the DC overvoltage sensor and bingo the unit comes back to life again.

Stuck on standby

Unit is in protect mode there are a few problems that can trigger protect mode the most common is blown channel (shorted outputs). Sometimes one of the 15v regulators may go bad causing imbalance of supplys triggering protect mode. Also sometimes a bad solder connection could cause unit to go into protect also. I work for Denon authorzied repair center in Michigan if your nearby and Shipping to Michigan is economical let me know

Powering Off

There is a problem in the audio output circuit. Most likely the output IC(S) went bad. This is a solid state unit and there are no user replaceable parts inside them, Please take this unit into a pro to be diagnoised. Good Luck
