Pull the knobs off
Spray some WD40 or release oil on the shafts , wrap a piece of tissue around them first to alow the stuff to soak in

Give it a couple of houts then get a pair of pliers and gently lift them up and down until the come free

If need be apply some more WD40 as you do that

The typo's on the last posting are really bad , what is an "alow " or "houts": allow and hours sound better
