Question about Fostex MR16HD/CD Digital Recorder

Locked up. Hard drive frozen?

Help! We were recording tracks just fine and when it went to store a track, the usual 2-3 seconds 'please wait' locked up. No controls worked, not even the power button.  I unplugged it after a few minutes hoping it would reset, but when powered back up I get nothing but 'please wait'.
Just bought the machine last week.
Hard drive fried? Any 'reset' option available? I still have no access to the menu or any controls.

Tried downloading usb update and for several minutes I had the "please wait" message. Half an hour went by and I decided to re-boot and when I did I got a hard drive error message. Had it a week, never been used. The hard drive is fried. This was with the MR8HD.

Likely the memory is fragmented into tiny snipets much like hard drives get. For looping, the memory likely has to be contiguous chunks. Clear the memory and load each in sequence.

I'm attempting to install a Hitachi hard disk drive model DK237A-32 removed from a Roland VS 1680 digital 16 track recorder into my PC which runs Windows vista OS. I've done a ton of research but...

The last time i used a VS-1680 was probably over 7 years ago, but if memory serves me right the only way of taking the tracks of to a pc, was by using an spdif line out to the pc and recording them that way, which if i remember right was a dog slow process as you were limited in how many tracks you could record at a time. there is an old forum i used to frequent with a guy quoting this

so that may be another way of doing it

Sorry i couldnt be any more help

It sounds like the hard drive has failed... cheap test, get another and reformat the new one. They are so inexpensive now. To avoid losing data, they lock things up if anything goes wrong. The unit probably can't get the ready signal from the drive and freezes...

I have a Phillips CDR 775 2 -disc cd recorder and my track time is automatically set to 20 seconds. How do I increase this time per track? Also, I cannot seem to get the auto track to work when...

It's all in the manual...

20 seconds is the amount of digital 'silence' the machine will let pass during recording before it marks a new track. t will Pause and wait one minute for a digital signal to resume. (Page 21)

On digital copying it will automatically increment track numbers as the source advances.

For analog sources you should switch Auto Track to OFF and manually press Track as applicable. (Page 28)

• To switch off the Auto Track function you have to enter
Menu mode.
If you wish to increase track numbers manually, press
TRACK INCR(ement) on the remote control. For further
instructions see Menu mode.
ON (AUTO): The track increments are automatically taken over
from the digital source material or after 2.7
seconds silence during analog recording.
OFF (MANUAL): While recording track numbers can be
incremented manually by pressing TRACK
INCR(ement) on the remote control.
(Minimum track length is 4 sec.) (This can
also be done in Auto track ON mode.)
