After I installed my d-link router with the cd I went on the internet to go to some websites and none worked. every webpage I try to load a telus website pops up and it asks for a username and a password. I try my telus email username and password and it won't work. Then I try my routers username and it wont work. and then I tried my SSID And security password an it dosent work.
Ask telus to clear all the mac addresses they have. Since you will be connecting through your router, only one mac address will be used. After the mac addresses have been cleared, log onto the router with your desktop and get the router to CLONE your MAC address. After that, all your computers and devices will connect to the router, and your router will connect to the internet through Telus. I hope this helps.

Try setting the D-Link back to factory specs. There is a small hole near the power cord that you can stick a straightened paper clip in to depress a micro switch and hold for about ten seconds with the power on. This will cause the router to forget its setting and revert to factory default, where the router will work with a default name that you can se but will not have a password. you must access your router later and install another password (Net Work Key) in order for the general public not to camp on your net work. What type of router do you have?
i have a linksys and it didn't work for a LONG time until i clicked properties (1, in the link bellow) then went to advanced (2) & checked the box that says "allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet Connection"
There you go that will hopefully help you with you're problem. *notice that i don't have security on my router*
You really don't need the cd to install the router - if you connect the
router to your PC with an ethernet RJ45 cable, this should give you
access to your LAN & the internet. You can then access your router to set up your wireless connectivity.
To access your router open your web browser & in the address bar, type 192.168.2.1 - you might be asked for a username & password - for username: admin password: leave blank or if this does not work type : admin for password
Verified that the Internet connection is working good
- Now if your connected to the wireless network but unable to access a website try this:
- Open the control panel - Open the network connection - Right click on wireless networks (Choose properties) - Choose Internet protocol then click properties - Assign DNS Server address (Preferred DNS: 18.104.22.168, Alternate DNS: 22.214.171.124) - Leave the DCHP as obtain IP address
Inability to access certain websites is due to three main factors.
Security on the web browser is set too high
MTU not set on the router properly
Lowering Down the Security Settings on Internet Explorer
Step 1: Double-click Internet Explorer and click Tools. Step 2: Select Internet Options, click Security then CustomLevel. A window similar to Step 3 will appear. Step 3: Select Medium-low under the Resetto drop-down menu.
If this did not work, you may try to:
-- enable the MTU on the router.
-- forward port 443 on the router
Well you see, the way that the telus internet connection works is by using something called a MAC address for access to the internet. That page that you are getting is the login page for your internet configuration, you need to login to that page with your telus ID it should start with something like A5A and password. Then click on "Manual Registration and Administration of PC's and Devices" if both fields are filled in delete one of them. On the bottom of your router there is a sticker with your serial number, right below that it should say "MAC ID:" enter what follow that into the field on the telus site. and you should not have any more problems after that.
