Water leak under machine

A leaking washer can have several causes. In order to be able to accurately determine where the leak may be coming from, you will need to remove the exterior washer case to get a full view of all the interior washer components. If this is a TOP LOADER, the following link explains how to perform this procedure and what to inspect for:

From the symptoms you have described, it sounds like you may have a leaking drain pump. These pumps are not serviceable, and if leaking, they must be replaced. The following link explains how to replace one:

Replacement parts can be purchased at any of the following websites:

The first three sites also included helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying any parts you may need. The average price for a pump is about $35.

NOTE: Roper washers are manufactured by Whirlpool, so these instructions do apply.

If you have any questions about any of these procedures, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

I have a Roper RTW4340SQ0 washer that leaks profusely when it fills and throughout the washing cycles. I've checked the water valve and all the hoses associated with it as well as the pump and all the...

This model is direct drive with a front mounted drain pump. The drain pump is THE most common leak location on these type washers! The pumps do NOT generally leak at the hoses, but from the impeller side between the pump and motor. There will be a telltale water mark on motor side of the pump shell. It can easily be fixed by popping the 2 retaining clips, removing the two drain hoses, and pulling off the old plastic pump, replacing it in the reverse order after cleaning the end of the motor shaft. Pumps run about 30 dollars. If you are sure this isn't the culprit, check for signs of leakage between the tub center and transmission, there is a tub gasket there. The tub itself, is not likey to leak, it is one piece with heat welded seams.Go to Youtube and search Whirlpool washing machine repairs, there are a number of instructional videos that show you exactly how to repair these machines and save yourself a lot of money. Incidentally Roper is built by Whirlpool, that's why I said search with that name.

Hope this sheds some light on the problem

Washer won't rinse or drain

I'm going to take a guess here that if you have the typical ROPER, KENMORE, Whirlpool washer made in the last 15-20 years that it also does not Agitate. But it will pump the water out without difficulty. If that is the case, then the problem is the "drive coupler". This part fails on these machines. It happens to ALL of them.
It is a very inexpensive part. However it is not an amateur level repair. It requires removing the metal cover from the machine and it is not easy to reinstall. ANY appliance repair person worth his salt will be able to do the repair. I suggest, if I'm guessing correctly, that you get a quote for replacing the "drive coupler" before you have the work done. Otherwise a dishonest repair person will tell you that it is the transmission. Just so you know, I've never fixed the transmission on one of these models in my life. The Roper Washing machine is made by Whirlpool for Retailers such as Lowes, Home Depot, etc.
If you are going to attempt to do it yourself, Get the service manual. Then it will be much easier.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards,

Washer leaking water as soon as water starts into the tub.Washer only 3 years old

If you have a leak, the most common cause is a worn drain pump, leaking drain hoses or the hose to the air dome has come loose. You will need to remove the exterior case of the washer to be sure. DO NOT lay the washer on its back. The gearcase contains oil and it may leak through the breather hole.

The following link explains how to inspect your washer for leaks:

Roper washer leaks when filling

It's in the drain hose somewhere, during the fill the water gets as deep in the drain hose as it does in the washer, during the wash the pump runs in reverse keeping the water level in the hose low, during the drain the hose is filled again.
Prop the washer up in front on a couple bricks or boards, start putting in water until it starts to leak and take a peak under the machine.
