Question about Dell A920 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Black Copy button works intermittently

The Black Copy button in the lower right corner of the printer does not alway respond when I press on it. In some instances I need to apply pressure to get it to respond (too much pressure in my opinion). Can I pop the cover off of the button corner to see if the contact(s) need a little cleaning??? If so, how do you suggest I do that.

Thanks,
Dave

Make sure that your original document is placed correctly on the scanner glass. Place the item you want to copy face down on the scanner glass in the lower right corner as shown.

Need to adjust the Settings on the Colour Mode to Black. The repair man left it on Auto now everyone in the office is not adjusting it to black.

Hello kthomas803,
You are smart to see this and respond. Even "black'pen ink has red pigment in it and although the human eye can't see it the copier can and counts that as a color copy. Hit the reset button so we know we are at the base configuration of the device. Now select black as the mode for the device as if you were about to make a copy. Now locate the "Aditional function" button to the right of the display. You will see a menu and I believe on your device the top right tab will say copy settings.Select it and scroll till tou see the "standard settings" key.Select it.The 2 options should be store and initialize.Select store and hit ok in he lower right corner. Now back out to the main screen which will require a couple of exits/resets.Now that you are back to the main copy screen select auto color.Press reset (yellow button).Your copier should now have gone back to black.Hope I have helped you,and have agood day. Please let "FIXYA" know if I helped. SPINAL

MP110 cartridge jammed

Open the cover as if you would change the cartridge. Then press the little black button . Keep it pressed, push “copy” on the left and then the (print) black button on the right of the lcd. The printer will somehow work and work. Wait until it rests again. Then close the cover and press the black button again. Now it should copy… and print, and so on.

Epson r285 uses all colors to print black

To print in black ink only mode on windows, please follow these steps:
  1. Right-click the drv_taskbaricon_1.gif printer icon in the lower right corner of your screen (taskbar).
  2. Select Printer Settings. A preferences window will appear.
  3. Click the Advanced button in the lower right corner of the preferences window (if you see a Basic button in the lower right corner of the window, skip this step).
  4. Click the Black Ink Only check box.
  5. Click OK in the preferences window.
If you’re using a Macintosh, you can’t set up the printer to print in black by default.

However, your printer will still use minimal amounts of color cartridges to prime the system when your printer is in the initialization stage when turned on. Your printer also mixes all the color cartridges to make up another black, that is to prolong the life of the black cartridges.

Here you go. If you have no underlying problems this should work. If it comes right back, you have a fuser problem.

  1. Turn the power off.
  2. Locate the Clear Button, which is grey in color, in the upper right corner above the green Start Button.
  3. Locate the Auto Button the lower left corner of the Control Panel.
  4. Turn the power back on.
  5. Press the buttons in the following sequence, releasing each button after each time you press it: [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto]. Every light on the Control Panel should go out, and the error code should clear.
  6. If the error code has not cleared, wait a few seconds then repeat Steps 1 through 5.
  7. Program the copier as if you were going to make 14 copies.
  8. Press the green [Start] button to store the reset code. The copier will return to the ready position.
  9. Run a test copy.
