Camera says "Access" for 2-3 seconds then says "turn power off and on again". Multiple tries of that haven't worked, even off overnight.

I called Sony at 800-222-7669 and was told to turn camera off, remove battery, turn camera on holding the power button for one full minute, put battery back in and power up as usual. Probably the one minute drains the residual energy in a capacitor.

I passed the info to my wife but she had solved the problem by tapping on the front to release a bind on the lens coming out. Probably caused by handling during her trip to California. So I don't know if the one-minute thing works but it is certainly worth a try.

Hope this helps you!

I tried taking out the battery, holding the power button for a full minute and putting battery back in. When I turned it on it was doing the same thing with the lens going in and out so i tapped on the front of the camera in various spots and the lens stayed open and the display is now fine.

    Thanks for the tips!!

Do you have it plugged into the computer with the usb cord? Mine says Access when plugged into the computer, but as soon as I unplug it it works normally.

Nikon s9300 - When I turn it on, the lense fully extends, but the screen stays black. I have to pop the battery out, then put back in for the lense to retract. Battery is fully charged and even tried

When the battery is fully charged, please put it in again. That means, if it is still in, remove it once again.
Switch it on, and even if you don't see a thing try to make a picture.
Then press the display button several times, to see if anything comes on the screen again.
If the camera does not respond after that, you should go back to the dealer, of contact Nikon.

My camera lense won't go in. Everytime I switch it

Your batteries are too low.
When you switch on the camera, the lense go in. Then lense comes out fully. Then, if the batteries are low, lense goes in and camera turns off.
But if the batteries are too low, camera turns off before the lense retracts or even before the lense comes out fully.

I own a sony cybershot dsc w35 when i switch on the screen displays "turn the power off and on again" help?

Hi. I had exactly the same problem with my Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W7. The problem started after while lense was fully open, the battery became 100% empty. I did not have access to new batteries and did not have my charger with me so I put the camera on my car seat and went home. After charging the batteries, I turned the camera Off and the lense retracted 100%. Later on I tried to transfer some pictures to my PC. After connecting the camera to my PC with the dial in the P position and lense fully open I turned the dial to play in order to transfer photos. After transferring the pictures, I turned the camera off and disconnected from the computer.

I turn the camera on to take new pictures next day, The lense would go up, and and turn with lense fully open. It would never close. The screen was black with a message "Turn the camera on and off again". I tried 30 times or more and the same thing would happen again.

Here is what I did to fix my camera and it has been working normally since then.

1- I cleaned around the outside of the lense with lent free cloth

2- I used dust OFF to get raid of the remaining small dust particles from around the lense.

3- While turning the camera off, I pushed (down, up and turn) the lense in (NOT TOO Hard) by my hand. If you push the lense too hard, you may damage the mechanicall moving parts of the lense.

4- After a few tries, the lense retracted 90% +. I then pushed the lense a little harder all the way in, the way it normall retracts. The lense cover also closed 100%.

5- I turned the Camera on and off a few times. It was opening and closing exactly the way it used to. My Cybershot has been working okay since then.

I read a lot and here is what cause my lense to malfunction.

While lense was fully open and battery died, some small particles got on the lense and prevented lense from fully opening or closing.

In summery: two things could have caused your camera lense to malfunction.

1- if you had dropped your camera hard, some mechanical parts may have got damaged or dislocated. In this case you have to open the lense and replace the damaged part, clean and put it back on the camera. This is too risky for most ordinary people. You would most likely make it WORST.

2- If you did not drop it, most likly, some how some small dust particles got on the outside of the lense and they prevent the lense or the lense cover from fully opening and closing. If this is your case, please follow exactly what I did and your camera would be back to normal.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phone screen goes blank to a grey color (externallY) .

same problem, broke my screen, ordered a new screen off ebay and replaced it. now it works fine most of the time but sometimes external display freezes. sometimes goes black, sometimes goes multicolor pixelated (full screen, in blocks, or lines) when this happens sometimes touchpad still works, others not. removing battery usualy temporarily fixes.

"access" screen, lens has trouble retracting, lens will not focus

try these two things i cant promise they will work

first turn on take hold of the lense and gently pull and twist you may hear it click dont force it then trun off and on again. this should fix the access and lense problem

then also try

Press Menu button
togle across from REC Mode to setup
togle down thrice from camera to setup 1
togle across into sub menu
togle down from four times to Initialize
togle across again to the sub-menu
togle up from cancel to OK
press center button to accept the OK choice
Screen changes and so press okay again
It should restart the camera
Opening on the 'Clock Set' screen
togle down to cancel and use the camera and make sure that you have the camera to flash, if it works try again in the Auto function.
If it is still not working do not worry follow the steps again two or three more times, As this is generally a software error message and not a hardware malfunction.
If it is working then don't forget to set your Clock.
