There is no pilot light on your power vented hot water heater. You may as well unplug it because the induction fan will continue to run. Hopefully your propane company is responsible enough to perform a gas leak check on your propane system. After the gas is turned back on, you can plug in your water heater to start it up. Run-outs are costly so it's bet to get on automatic delivery or call when the tank is down to 30%
read manual: http://www.rheem.com.au/Assets/1294/1/Rheemsolarlolineelectric511series.pdf Usually electric element heats about 20 gallons per hour. It appears the element is controlled by thermostat and automatically kicks ON when tank falls below thermostat set point.. This will be handy since element will continually heat the circulating water when outside temperatures turn cool... of course it will also be wasteful if thermostat is set high.
Immediate danger! You have a gas leak. Propane is heavier than air and will settle on the floor. The floor can be covered and ignite and you will not smell it while standing or sitting or laying in bed. Absolutely open the door and leave trailer. Turn off the gas to the heater if the shut-off is outside. Possibly you have a bad gas control valve. This should be repaired professionally.
There's a filter on the cold water side of the unit. You'll notice a black, plastic, cylindrical component directly below the unit on the cold water line pointing to the left. If you shut of your water and unscrew that cap, there will be a filter attached to the other end.
If the filter is clean, I'd recommend calling tech support for help. You might have an error code.
Rick, if the tank is normally plumbed for a horizontal position, and you have it standing vertically, then you are feeding liquid propane to your pilot light, hence the frosted hose etc., and a tendency for the pilot light to go out as it has too rich of a fuel to burn. There should be no vent to allow air in as propane is pressurized, and only attains zero pressure at 40 below zero farenheit. The valve you speak of should have been the liquid vent valve which is used during filling only, and is closed during any other use. Your supply valve should be in the wide open position. The pressure relief valve is only operational when the tank has been overfilled or overheated. You should have a pressure regulator between the tank and the appliance you are trying operate. Hope this helped. Marvin
