Re: Maytag 6500AWQ

The outer tub bearing. This bearing is under a lot of stress and tends to wear out. Check and see if there is excess play in the drum. Move the drum all around. Also if you remove the back panel plate you can access the main pulley. If this pulley has any side-to-side or top-to-bottom play then the bearing is bad

If it's a roaring noise, the tub bearing is probably wearing out. Spin the tub a little with your hand, if you hear a little of the roar, that's it.

Washer is very noisey while on spin cycle like a bad wheel bearing on a car.. but no error codes?

Very sad to say but i imagine this will either be a trapped item such as bra wire caught in the drum or if it sounds like Gatwick airport when it spins it's probably your bearing...can be very expensive to repair. You cannot buy a seperate bearing you have to get hold of a rear tub and drum which depending on where you go could set you back £600ish pounds.

I have a maytag neptune washer model# mah300aww.

Your tub seal leaked water into the tub bearings causing them to fail. Maytag only offers the bearings as part of the outer tub assembly and the repair can be pricey. A little research may turn up a service company in your area that has the tool to replace only the tub bearing. The repair becomes more affordable that way.

Noisy spin cycle

The spin bearing is the culprit. Water works down through the tub seal onto the bearing.

Its possible that the machine is not reaching full speed during spin. Check to see if the belt is slipping and that the thrust bearing pulley turns freely. When in the spin cycle the thrust bearing compresses the brake directly above it. If this brake is hanging up even a little the machine cannot reach full speed. The diagram on the right shows the thrust bearing assy. and brake.754307c.gif
