I am getting no power indicators, led lights blinking or anything. I do not hear the fan coming on, the screen is blank.

i have a t23 with the same problem. no reaction after pressing the power button, no lights. the owner said that the last days he had to press the power button more times before the laptop came up. also he said something about some fan problem message. i measured the batteries and the power supply (all ok). the contact of the fan was not tightly connected (i dont know if it was disconnected). i removed disk, memory, cards but that did not help. the 2 fuses on the mainboard were ok. can i do more? is there a mosfet that switches power. i dont have schematics of the mainboard.

Are you getting any life at all? i.e are the power indicators coming on, are you getting any booting messages on the screen?

are you getting the windows logo screens?

I'm trying to ascertain whether this is a hardware or a software issue.

When I boot my computer My HF237 monitor will briefly show the page then go dark. How can I diagnos the problem?

This is usually an issue with a failing capacitor. I replace them in mine often. In the monitor, on the power supply will be several capacitors (caps). Look for the tops to be domed these are bad. Try a site called badcaps if you are game to replace these.

A soldering station after shipping can be as low as $32 or so.

Change boot cd rom bios300

Your IBM 300 series desktop computer is normally set to boot its operating system directly from the installed hard disk drive.
There are some cases where you may want to boot from a different device, such as loading from the floppy drive to install a new operating system.
In order to change the boot order on the IBM computer you need to access the Basic Input Output System (BIOS) menu.

Close any applications that are still running.
Turn off the IBM 300PI computer and then turn it back on again.
Tap the "F1" key when the "Configuration/Setup Utility" prompt appears at the bottom of the screen.
Tap the down arrow key four times to highlight the "Start Options" entry.

Press the Enter key.
Highlight the "Startup Sequence" entry and then press Enter again.

Scroll down and highlight "First Startup Device."
Press Enter. Scroll through the list of available boot order devices.
Highlight the device you want to use, such as "CD Drive" or "Floppy Drive," and press Enter.

Press the "Escape" key twice.
Highlight "Save Settings" and then tap Enter.
Power off the IBM computer and then power it back on.

Theres no display on screen

by shutting the screen you have activated power saving followed by hibernation.when you lift screen and press power a screen appears telling you what programs are currently running and your icon to removing battery you have (computer term) illegally shut down, possibly with programs running, which incidently is a good way to loose sys32. which would require a repair or install.
Not ur case as of yet.restart ur pc and press f 8 about 4 seconds later .black screen with options appear ,navigate to start windows with last good will restart with last good settings .
if you choose to go asleep whilst a program is running you can configure windows not to go into power save mode or hibernation, turn off hd,turn off pc etc .
if you right click mouse in any space on desktop, select properties, screensaver, can change settings there to suit.
