Question about Fellowes Shredmate Shredder

1 Answer

Fellowes Shredmate Cross Cut Shredder

Shredder stopped working.

Found a minute switch on the side, under the unit and the shredder works when this switch is kept in so the motor and blades are working.

Spent ages finding a way to separate the top and bottom sections. There's a 7th screw under the bar code label!!!!

I suspect the automatic sensor / switch has failed inside the feeder slot?

How do I oil the shredder

Found this that should help:
Oiling Instructions for Fellowes Shredders
Why and How Often: Regular oiling of cross-cut and micro-cut shredders is a necessary maintenance step to help keep your shredder functioning properly and prolong its life. Several factors determine how often you should oil your shredder-such as the type of paper being shred, the amount of paper being shred, and whether you shred only occasionally or continuously for long periods of time without stopping.
  • As a general rule, it is a good practice to oil your shredder each time you empty the wastebasket, or once a month.
  • Micro-cut shredders need to be oiled more frequently-ideally after every 15 minutes of use.
How To: Press and hold down the reverse button on your shredder. Put the tip of the oil bottle in the paper entry and make one or two sweeps across the cutters while gently squeezing the oil bottle. Continue to run the shredder in
reverse for another 10-15 seconds.
What to use: It is recommended that you use Fellowes Oil to oil your shredder. You may also use other oil designated for shredder use.
Do not use any oil or lubricant that is dispensed from an aerosol container.
Do not use any petroleum-based oils or lubricants. Use of such oils or lubricants will void the warranty on your shredder and could cause serious injury, as they are fire hazards when used with electronic devices.

Fellowes P35C works in reverse but not forwards

In forward operation, a detector senses the presence of material in the feeder and turns it on. Reverse operation is selected by switch position; no sensor is involved. I would bet that if you remove power and turn the shredder upside down you will find bits of shredded paper clogging your shredder, particularly in the center area where the detector is located. After thorough removal of debris, you should be back to normal operation

If you look into the slot you feed the paper into, you should see a two little bumps that are facing each other in the center of the slot. These are the sensors that tell the unit to turn on/off. You can try cleaning them with a paper towel or long q-tip. If this does not fix it, then the sensors will have to be replaced. Most Fellowes machines have a 3-year warranty, you can call Fellowes at 1-800-955-0959 to see if yours is under warranty.

Our P58Cs is no longer turning on - no lights come up. We swapped the fuse in the plug with a plug that is working but this didn't help. Does anyone have any idea why

"" Unplug the unit first! "" The shredder head "top" has a small silver safety switch on the underside, this has to engage with a TAB on the side of the basket for the unit to power up, carefully look on the underside for it. put it back on the basket, once engaged it should work.

Fellowes paper shredder

Though I only work with Fellowes shredders this sounds like a paper feed sensor issue. If your unit has a mechanical paper feed sensor you can try to jiggle it in and out to see if any paper may have become jammed behind switch. If the unit has an electronic sensor it may simply need to be cleaned with a Qtip dipped in rubbing alchohol.
If neither of these help your paper feed sensor or your pc1.gif board has gone bad and you will have to contact your manufacturer for further parts availability.
